Apparently politics has been getting involved, and not in a good way:

Strange carry on. I hope the efforts of the Moroccan league and the finances of the Lebanese don't going to waste because of this.

That's an excellent result against a team with far more experience. Well done Rabs and the rest of the Moroccan team.

Ouch! I see you managed to lose a decent halftime lead Rabs. Better luck next time. Any news on why the Moroccan government tried to stop the game being played?

hey guys , so the reason why exactly the governement stoped Mena is this : the Moroccan federation of Rugby league is a new one , it means we just have 6 month right now and the governement said we should have 2 years then we can play for the natoinal team of Morocco , but same as we played against Lebanon without no flag no natoinal Music , just like we are a team against them , same as we did a nice work and we was good as the players of Lebanon was shocked and nervous about us , we respect them because they have a experience but realy i like what they did applauds to us and tell us we did a great work against them , we are happy now and wait the moroccan players in the future

That makes sense. I was worried that there was some sort of negative influence in the government!

Just play games under the same circumstances as the Lebanon game until the two years are up. I'm sure everyone except the Moroccan government will recognise you as the official Morocco team.

Reading between the lines... Its Rugby union up to their old tricks again.... isn't it?

If, after the 2 year period has passed, another spurious barrier is erected, we'll have a better idea. I think Morocco RL will have to take the current explanation at face value for now.Still, the match got played in the end, which is good.

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes
