Generally I don't think it's fair on the non offending side to rearrange games that are a walkover. Fair enough juniors or a merit league if there is enough notice but when the RLC starting making clubs replay instead of award replays (even rather disgracefully in the national division) the normal of games called off seemed to increase significantly due to chancers who would have travelled with 11 or 12 before. Swindon normally are very good at travelling though

I really don't want to wade into this but will clarify a couple of points in the interest of fairness.

We've always had excellent relations with Swindon and I really hope we can put last week's nonsense behind us. This does nobody any favours.

Since then you've asked to play a friendly on a weekend when both clubs are free. Why couldn't we have played the league fixture then?

Because our ground is unavailable on that weekend so it simply wasn't possible to re-arrange for a weekend. The friendly at your place was suggested at the time as the next best thing so people could still get a game. I understand though that you have the same issue as us that day.

Rearranging the fixture wasn't mentioned by Swindon at all until a few days ago, when they decided they'd try it on.

In fairness Matt, the suggestion of rescheduling was made by Swindon on that Friday but we couldn't accommodate for the reason above.
