A brief resume of his career.
Menzie started his Eagles career way back on 15th February 2009 at Gateshead International Stadium against Gateshead Thunder in the Northern Rail Cup. Gateshead won by 44pts to 18. Menzie started at #3.
His next match he started at #4, also in the Northern Rail Cup away at Oldham. Sheffield won this encounter 34 points to 24.
Menzie’s home debut was on the 1st March against Halifax RLFC. Eagles lost heavily by 18 points to 50.
His first Challenge Cup match was at Don Valley against Toulouse Olympique XIII. An Eagles win on the 8th March 2009. It took a total of 10 matches for the Eagles fans to see the “Jukebox” score his first club try. It was in Round 4 of the Challenge Cup against Dewsbury at Don Valley on Friday 3rd April.
The first Cooperative Championship match for Menzie was against Leigh Centurions, also at Don Valley on 15th March and Eagles were beaten by a solitary point, 22 – 23.
On Thursday 9th April 2009, in front of the SKY cameras against local rivals Doncaster, Menzie tried his best by scoring a hat-trick only for Sheffield to lose by the odd point in 45.
7 games at #4 scoring 5 tries including 4 against Doncaster on 28th June 2009 played at Post Office Road. Eagles 78 Doncaster 8. Started 91 games at centre (#3).
Sunday 4th September 2011 saw Menzie play his only game from the subs bench (#16) against York City Knights at Bramall Lane. He scored a hat-trick in the Eagles win of 52 points to 18. There has only been one other player in the recent history of the club (from the re-forming in 1999) who has scored a hat-trick from the bench. This was on 3rd May 2010 when Alex Rowe scored a hat-trick from the bench(#15) against Whitehaven at Bramall Lane. Eagles won 64 – 24.
On 3rd September 2009 Menzie celebrated his 25th appearance on TV against Barrow Raiders. He also scored a try in Eagles 29 – 22 win at Don Valley.
19th August 2010, again on SKY and again in Sheffield, but at Bramall Lane this time Menzie made it 50 appearances, no try this time, in Eagles win over Leigh Centurions. (29 – 28).
13th August 2011, away at Craven Park, Barrow-in-Furness, Menzie celebrated 75 games with a try in the loss to the Raiders. Barrow 36 Sheffield 26.
