As I keep saying, instead of calling out the summer switch as being a failure immediately, wait until next season when people might actually arrange things not to clash with games etc. Of course it's not perfect, but give it a bleedin chance.

Cannot see many Brides agreeing to get married in November - April so as not to mix things up for Husband to be rugby fixtures. Get Real

The decision to move this year was early enough in my opinion
I personally can't see the summer season surviving in its current format after 2013

82-0 at half time. Just spoke to my mate who plays for normy and it's a players wedding and they asked the league if they could postpone any the league said no, so they went with 11 players 6 of which were 16 years of age.

The league wouldn't postpone a fixture but they would allow a mutually agreed switch to another day. Waterhead could have done Normy a favour and played mid-week if that was the case. They could have arranged it themselves to switch to another date (there are enough free dates) and the league would have accepted it.

Loads of games have been switched around between the clubs themselves - after receiving NCL approval. Perhaps Waterhead don't have any weeks when their players are thin on the ground for weddings/stag do's etc - and perhaps some of the other Div.2 sides will remember that if Waterhead ask for an early kick-off or date switch.

Wherever possible clubs should work together. This switch to summer has affected us all. but we should all stick together.

Credit to the players that travelled.

Good effort from waterhead, can you imagine "the warriors" posting a score like that. There would be posts from number 1-17 saying how amazing they are. Just like we only get a score posted when they win!!!!

A lot of one sided games is this really the future for the amatuer game when is somebody going to have the balls and admit it was a mistake to switch to summer.

Only Hull Dockers, Heworth, Normanton and Cas Panthers got hammered in the main divisions. Normanton, Heworth and Cas Panthers are struggling anyway (all 3 voted winter incidentally) and Normanton had the added issue of a wedding. Wouldn't be surprised if some or all of these 3 clubs decided to go back to winter but hardly a problem for the other clubs.

Conference 3 the Nottingham game was unusual as Nottingham are normally good but St Albans maybe stepped up too soon.

I'm sure if this was asked at start of season to be postponed it would have been. My club have worked with opposition to shuffle fixtures around due to prior engagements without any issues. There's blank weekends coming up due to cup

Leigh Miners 40 v 8 Oulton Raiders

Leigh Miners moved back into the top six with a 40-8 victory against relegation threatened Oulton Raiders yesterday on a warm afternoon at Twist Lane. After a tough opening to the game Miners opened the scoring after fifteen minutes when Scott O'Brien broke through the Oulton defence to send in hooker Aaron Gorton under the posts, Jonny Youds converting to give the score 6-0. Oulton replied with a good spell of pressure and got themselves on the score sheet when a kick through on the left bounced off a Miners defenders legs which was picked up by the Raiders winger to score out wide bringing the score 6-4. The score stayed like that until the final few minutes of the half when Miners hit their visitors with a quick double, firstly from Adam Thomason and then soon after Ross Bradley scored out on the right to give the half time score 14-4.

Miners took control of the game early in the second half with tries from John Woods and Scott O'Brien, Youds landing one conversion to give the score 24-4. Two further Miners tries followed, the first from Tom Farrimond who barged his way over from close range to score, Youds converting, and that was soon followed by a try from the hard working Danny Jackson to give the score 34-4. Oulton replied with a consolation try late on before John Woods finished the game with a second try scoring in the left corner in the last minute, Youds converting off the touchline to give the final score 40-8.

Next week Miners are away to Leigh East in the 2nd round of the Conference Challenge Cup.

MINERS TEAM = J. Youds, S. Pendlebury, R. Bradley, M. Lewis, J. Woods, A. Thomason, S. O' Brien, J. Lloyd, A. Gorton, D. Kay, D. Jackson, L. Gittins, C. Connor, SUBS = D. Rowlands, T. Farrimond, S. Marsh, K. Howells

MOM = Darryl Kay

Wigan St.Patricks 60 v Hull Dockers 22 h-t 38-12

Pats tries: Dec McLoughlin 4, Ryan Smith 3, Jim Brown 2, Anthony Griffiths 1, Tom Atherton 1, goals John McCoy 8, mom Ryan Smith.
Dockers tries Sam Bowering 2, James Krebbs 1, Karl Smirk 1, goals Chris Stephenson 3, mom Sam Bowering.

Not without repercussions, by the 60min mark we had 3 on the way to hospital one with torn rib cartilage, one a fractured jaw and the third still in hospital waiting to have a badly broken arm pinned and plated. Is everyone else getting these unusually high injury lists, just wandering I've been down at Pats over 20 yrs never seen so many injured at the same time added to that, people on holidays or at weddings and stag do's, every week a coach's nightmare !!

Nothing amazing about beating 11 men, 6 of which are under 16's. As mentioned why wasnt the game re-arranged? I think you need to look through the posts and you will find that Warriors defeats are posted.

Milford Marlins 42 - 4 Millom
East Leeds Reserves 0-56 Milford Marlins Reserves

over 40 odd training both nights even the reserves train on a tuesday which we never had in the dark winter months we were lucky if we got 15 for both teams for the Marlins the switch to summer as been a great success. And all of these players are wanting to play at the weekend, guess we are lucky at the moment with having a young side not any ready for marriage just yet might be a problem in a few years but by then hopefully our youth players who will have then been playing summer for a few years will be capable to step up when needed.

Thats good numbers, we've been back training two weeks and averaged just over 30 players a session, but we've players working and on holiday at the moment, during last winter (must say it was better weather than at the moment) we had well into the 40's, I think that was down to training on the all weather pitch at the Trinity Academy in Thorne.

Over 40 in the winter is great Number Marauder bet not many clubs could boost that many in the winter months of December and January. Having been involved with Milford for over 40 years we have not had numbers like we have now since our glory years of the 70s and 80s.

82-0 at half time. Just spoke to my mate who plays for normy and it's a players wedding and they asked the league if they could postpone any the league said no, so they went with 11 players 6 of which were 16 years of age.

When was this wedding arranged.(Last Week)

Most weddings that i know about are organised months ahead, so that should have given them plenty of time to sort/arrange a revised date.
Have the Normy club committee cocked up somewhere on the line.
