Obviosly it depends on who you are playing. The other week we had a wedding the day we were due to play BDH at home. They agreed to move the fixture to the following Monday.
Did Normy even try re-arranging with Waterhead?

Thats good of them. They must be desperate for the points. I hope other teams remember this when they are in the same predicament and they get told where to go! I also hope the young lads that played can take some positives from the game and it hasnt put them off.

At least they didn't feign an injury to get the game abandoned due to going below the minimum to play a match.
Happened against Miners I think last year

There isn't a minimum number for an abandonment only to start a match

Lee i don't know the official ruling, but last season Saddleworth travelled to Miners with the minimum and started the match they were predictably getting tonked and a player went down the referee then abandoned the game as Saddleworth didn't have the minimum number of players on the pitch. There isn't a minimum number for an abandonment only to start a match

When a team is down to 8, you abandon the match. 9 is the minimum you can play with. You must start with at least this number.

Could do with a referee to tell us the official line, Fact is the game last season was abandoned.

I've done my fair share of refereeing and you cannot continue with only 8 players.
Look at the Fryston v Sharlston National Cup game last year for a classic example of abandonment due to going down to 8.

Why can't you continue?
Fryston match could have been abandoned due to ongoing thuggery not numbers. I abandoned 2 matches - one after 9 mins, 3 brawls and 4 reds; the other after 3 sent off from 1 side who weren't interested in playing

If a team is reduced by injury then abandonment should be a consideration but if a team is reduced by indiscipline then the game should continue and let them suffer the consequences.
I only abandoned one game when spectators joined a brawl.
