First off, well done to your team last night, you deserved to win, no complaints here with the result, but, as i am sure you will understand , a lot of complaints with our last 21 minuites effort, and on the back of not having played for 10 days.
My comment is about your away support, or lack of it. To ALL the ones that turned up , estimated at 50, a BIG thankyou from the Dogs. Away support is vital to ALL clubs as this adds to the overall bottom line. BUT, as far as the EAGLES are concerned, across the whole of our division, there seems to be a lack of away support. Your team is at the top end of the division, playing some good rugby, you were playing the team above you, trying to cement a play off place, and 50 turn up.
Why???
Is it --Thursday Night?, Cos' it was on Premier Sports?, You just don't like Batley's ground?,( this would be strange if it was the ground, as universally across the Championship we are percieved to have one of the better 'gameday experiences'.)
Discuss??.

Nothing to do with the ground, its simply because it was a Thursday night, had it been a Sunday there would have been 3 times the amount of people there. This has been reflected by the gates for all the games on Premier Sports this season. I was there last night and enjoyed the game very much!
why dont they just give andy farrell his medal now?- ray french before the challenge cup final 1998

Firstly well done Sheffield. Dug deep in the second half and deserved the win.
As for the support, there were actually more Featherstone fans there than Eagles'. Even at Sheffield home games on a Thursday are the numbers so low? There did seem to be about a 50/50 split when we played you at yours on a Thursday.

The crowds are not always great, but this is something the club are working hard to increase. However, I think its the same at every Championship club, I bet the average home gate will be about the same for the heartland clubs such as Dewsbury and Batley, indeed we have had a higher average than these clubs in previous seasons. Thursday night games do nothing for attendances regardless of the club. I also dont think there was a 50/50 split at Bramall Lane, you brought a few but not hundreds! More than Dewsbury however who brought about 6 fans to Bramall Lane!

What tosh! Shame such a good club has such poor support (Home & away). The Eagles are a championship 1 club with top Championship players

I could take that comment seriously were it not for Batley's equally poor crowds, maybe a merger with Dewsbury is the way forward for that area...

720 at the loverugbyleague.com stadium last Thursday, can't compete with those massive crowds

When we went to Sheffield the attendance was about 1000 and I'd say close to half (if not more) was away support.

Can't argue there E.S.O, I thought there was even less than 700.

Yet they took 600 to Sheffield on a Thursday night apparently

Not wanting to get into a ' my dads bigger than your dad' discussion, using your equation above, you reckon if it hadn't have been on a Thursday night, there would have been 3x as many. So that would be 150 then. Still very poor for a top 4 clash, historically Sheffield Eagles fans do not travel well, even though we are only 25 miles apart.Nothing to do with the ground, its simply because it was a Thursday night, had it been a Sunday there would have been 3 times the amount of people there. we cant all be heroes because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by
