Does anyone else think that Palfrey should get a run in the 7 jersey??
For me Gaz isn't doing enough at the minute, and we cant have a player in the team soley to kick. As well Gaz doesn't have that ability to break the line like Blacky does. Whenever Palfreys at 7 played he's impressed (for example Fev in the Northern Rail) so think before the play offs it could be a chance to see what the lads made of, and see if he should be at the Mount next season.

Good post. Gaz Moore was poor last night. Sure Ben black can kick goals.

Palfrey can kick as well, he is also a good open play kicker as was shown at Fev earlier this season.

I wouldn't mind seeing Palfrey get a shot.

You should have took hemmingway off us im sure he would have done a job for you guys.Hes gone to haven but im sure he will rip up that league.I realy rated him with us its just any HB would find it hard to get in the team in front of kainy, finn, heppy, and briggs etc.

We had him on loan from Giants a few seasons ago. He did do a job but I think when it came down to it I would've picked Moore at one stage over him.

Moore is a very good player, I see no reason to drop him. We're having a decent season up to press, he's playing well, and seems to have developed a much better attitude since returning from Wakefield. Maybe he didn't have a great game last night in the second half, but neither did anyone else on our side. We were simply awful all over the pitch. Dropping a guy who scores a try every other game for us (quite literally, check the stats) and can kick goals from all over the pitch wouldn't be a good move, especially at this stage of the season. Also, trying to justify his omission by saying that he 'doesn't have that ability to break the line like Blacky does' is an odd way to emphasise the point. Dean Lawford wasn't a renowned 'line-breaker', but that didn't make him a bad scrum-half - far from it. Anyway, from what I've seen of Palfrey, he's certainly not the 'line-breaker' you seem to crave. He's got some good attributes though, and I'd expect to see him around next season. As for Tom Hemingway - virtually anonymous in the games he played for us in 2007 apart from on debut against Dewsbury, and simply not good enough for this division I'm afraid.

Batley's problem last night especially in the second half was that the pack was well beaten. If the packs giving the team no goforward it does not matter who is playing at halfback.

What a ridiculous thread.
Moore and Black are developing a good partnership and flourish when the forwards are on top.
You cant play behind a beaten pack, as was the case in the second half on Thursday.
Palfrey is a good player to have in reserve, and im pretty sure after Thursday JK is aware of where our weaknesses are, half back sure isnt one of them IMO.

Think another of our problems is our inability to play for longer than 40/50mins.played 3 good first halves on trot and fallen away for periods after the interval, sides are taking us out wide because our wingers keep coming in and taking the wrong man it's happened in about half a dozen games this season. What a ridiculous thread.

if the packs blowing a bit and were not making the yards then surely thats when the likes a moore, mennel and black, ash, lythsy come into play, its no good saying everything happens after the forwards have done everything for the ball handlers, its the likes a moore and mennel that have hit gaps and taken us forward to set up for plays out wide,we dident seem to be able to string anything together in the second half due to the fact sheffield did what we should a done by taking them on hitting gaps. had loved to have dropped a fit tommo.heaton.lawford,finn,into that second half and see how they made things happen if they thought the big lads were doing nowt.too late now but were due more a the same me thinks.
