Some time ago Hornets had to play South Wales Scorpions in a meaningless midweek rail cup game at Spotland.
In that team one of our under 23's players Ben Marsden played in the first team and as you probably know Ben is the son of one of our former favourites Robert 'Bob' Marsden.
So the interesting question for the historians is.......Has any father and son ever played for Hornets in the past or is that a first?

Not exactly father and son playing for Hornets, but when Paul Grayshon played with Hornets he played against his father Paul who was playing for Batley (?) at the time.
Another player with Hornets who was part of the terrible six. Called Woods, whose son Les played with Swinton. You could allways tell when Les was at a Hornets game, a deep booming voice would invite the ref to get them onside.
A stalwart at Hornets over many years was Les's sister Jean who did many jobs at the club, from working in the bar to washing the kits.
Does anybody know if Jean still makes it up to watch Hornets ? She must be a fair old age now.

Oh yes she still gets her programme and Golden Gambles off me at the top of the steps.
Hornets had brothers who played togather, the Corsi's, way back in the time when we had a good run at cups etc.
Pugwash.

The late ex Hornet Mark Burgess, sure wish his sons (Sam,Luke, George & Tom) would pull on a Hornets shirt? Surely no father has created a legacy like this one.. All bar one are NRL stars with rumours rife the later will join them. Only Wiganers 'the Farrells' could rival this production line..?
Although his Dad played for Hornets (Geoff) Damian Munro was/is a fine player in the National Leagues.

If we are on about production lines then the most prolific I can think of is the Myler clan. Over the decades Frank's kith and kin have produced some real class players.

Didn't our former stand-off Alan Fairhursts son play for us a few years ago. I think he was a prop forward that we signed from Blackpool Panthers?

The Burgess Bros are the only ones i can think of. Can the Austin Bros count? Yes there was only 2 (Greg & Tony) but Tony was a big lad and could of easily been mistaken for two?
