I know many iof us have been saying this for a long time.
Among his pathetic attempts to commentate today " that was a possible certain try" while his silly welsh sidekick was complaing about a forty twenty call being wronfg because the kicker was kicking the ball while on the line - the 30 year line!
Between Sky's stevo and the BBC's circus troup they make sure only dyed in the wool fans of the game will watch (probably with the sound turned down).
Compare with the professional job done by Rabbits Warren, Peter Stirling and Gus Gould on Aussie TV broadcasts.

I've never heard the Aussie commentary so can't comment either way but Ray French should have retired years ago. Today while the VR considered the decision on Gareth Carvell's try he must have gone from it's a try to it's no try and back a couple of times. He's the opposite of an Asda shopping trolley, the trolley has a mind of its own.
I suppose the main thing is he's probably cheap which fits the BBC's bill!
Pugwash.

Unfortunately Rabbits and Gould spend half the time arguing with each other about riduculous things which spoil their commentating imo?
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of......

I agree about Ray, as much as he is an institution in RL the image he protrays is of a bumbling northern flat capper. I feel Dave Woods is about the best on TV at the moment as well as Phil Clarke. Although his Wigan biase and dougheyed comments on Sam Tomkins are a bit uncomfortable at times.
I thinks its harsh on Jiffy hes sensible enough if a little dour and out of touch slightly. Robbie Pauls good as well, he gives great insight i suspect to fringe fans and regulars watching.
Personally those two wallys on Sky are frankly embarrasing, Eddie not quiet as bad as Stevo. I could write all day about Stevo, who should have been replaced on sky in the 90s.
I would like to see Ellery Hanley given some kind of role on TV with Martin Offiah or Jason Robinson maybe, respected well known ex players who come across as articulate, passionate and upto speed.I dont feel theres enough of our ex black players on TV.
I was pretty impressed with a dispondent Iestyn Harris on the red button after Saturdays game. He was clearly upset about Wigans performance and was invited several times to slate Ben Thaler, he kept it proffesional and soley focused on Wigans poor show. Again Iestyns recognisable in many Rugby houses around the country and comes across well. Hes clearly upto speed with the game due to his role with Shaun Wane at Wigan.
Brian Noble good value also.

Oh no, not Phil Clarke, he of the incomprehensible statistics and unfathomable graphics on SKY!
He seems to have ditched the stupid Margin-O-Meter which was to suggest the winning margin and came up with some real howlers! Then the regular half-time graphic which is showing the number of play-the-balls in different areas of the pitch represented by coloured squares. What does it all mean.
Please not Phil Clarke.
