Reading the CEO's column in the Fev matchday column, it appears that an application has been put in to the rfl to run a team in Championship 1 next year in addition to the first team. The logic behind this is to allow a pathway from the U18s to the first team, at a higher level than the current U23s, in effect acting as our on feeder team. This caught me a bit by suprise; I can see advantages for player development but how would other teams take it? What if other clubs wanted to do the same? A potentially innovative idea, but would it work in practise?

What if they get promoted, there is a conflict of interest if Fev play Fev.

I'm sure there was a ruling against it as Hull FC wanted to do it years ago and play their 2nd team out of Goole.
Carlsberg don't do Soldiers, but if they did, they would probably be Brits.<div align='center'></div>

The RFL have already decided the teams for next year. Plus yeah it's not allowed and the RFL don't want new heartland clubs in Championship 1.
If dual registration is passed they'd be better off farming players to Featherstone Lions. Back to back promotions and they'd be in NCL premier which will be a better league than Championship 1 anyway.

I can't argue with any of the points raised; it's interesting to see other views on this.
The only thing I do find a little peculiar regarding this is that the club have chosen to make this public at this point. Given the regular communication with the RFL regarding our SL bid for 2015, of which this is a part, I find it strange that the club would announce it without having discussed it with the RFL. Assuming therefore that they have discussed it with the RFL, the announcement would suggest that it's not been instantly dismissed as out of hand...

The Reserve Grade for Championship clubs is not a high standard. These players would be better off in terms of development playing in Championship 1, or in the NCL.

Well, it's pretty clear that most CC1 clubs will have a link-up of some sorts with an SL club, so Fev would be unlikely to be any different were they to get into SL. Doesn't really make sense for a Championship club though.

Out of interest can Championship players dual register with a Championship 1 club or is it all classed as one league?

I mentioned this on Yorkshire Radio last year. It happens in European football.
Personally I don't see a problem with it. In fact I think it would be pretty cool.

Typical of the arrogance of Super League teams, using the Championships as a feeder comp.
Astute analysis from a Wigan fan:
Rumour going around Headingley that Wire will have to play the second half with 12 men.
It seems that they forgot to bring the half time oranges, and Solomona ate Chris Bridge instead.
Don't know why he was hungry, as he looked as though he had eaten the whole youth team before the game started.

But what if Fev decided to establish a team in, say, North Derbyshire? Would that be allowed?

I've always wondered why Cas haven't made more of a play for Doncaster, maybe even test the water with a couple of games at the Keepmoat

If their academy teams can cut it in Championship 1, then whats the problem?

It devalues the competition and contributes to a poor atmosphere at games. Nobody's favourite side is Wigan A.

You know that for a fact do you?
And I don't think an atmosphere can get much poorer than 300 moaning miserable buggers on a council park pitch in Oldham that keeps getting vandalised.
Thats not a dig at Oldham by the way, its just the way it is.
