eee I can remember when they just used to shout down't pit shaft for halfbacks an the answer came back "ow many" - or was that fev ? Nicks right though, half back has been a problem since franny left, so it's not just WJ. To put things in perspective, I reckon if, at the beginning of the season, you had taken a fans poll of where we would finish up, I'd put money on the result being third or fourth from the bottom - which is exactly where we'll be. The bottom line is that while we have a few real quality players, we don't have the strength in depth that those above us have. I would be willing to bet that, given the money Keighley must have spent, their fans will also be disappointed at their position. It's not just WJ to be fair. As long as I've been watching Dewsbury we have gone from having decent half backs to having a serious deficit in equal measure. For all the good ones that you may recall there will be at least as many average ones that you have managed to forget.
Maybe, just maybe, there aren't enough good half backs to go around - and that includes SL.

I think the game last night highlighted how Whitehaven, following a structured game plan (and with Jamie Rooney) couldn't cope with a pack with flair and go forward in Barrow. Although Sice and Rooney are excellent players, the backs were often overrunning passes and dropping the ball because the pack just weren't mobile enough and creating space.
if there was a team that reminded me of how Dewsbury play, it was Whitehaven.

We were never in danger of finishing in the bottom two, we certainly dont have the money to compete with the top 3-4 and you have to admit that Batley and Keighley are decent sides so on that front i have no complaints.
Having said that, any change to the coaching setup needs to be a step forward and not just a reaction to the fans (important as they are)

the boat for a play-off place has already sailed
WE WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS !!!!!!!!!
were 7 points behind keighley (thats 3 games worth of points) by beating swinton,Hunslet & bonus point vs batley, that leaves us 2 games
keighley & sheffield...not much there im afraid in the way of points.
keighley still have swinton & dewsbury to play, points gained for definate there.
keighley's other games against leigh (twice) Fev & sheffield...nowt much there for them
so do the maths & you will see the playoff will not be reached !!
no doubt the coaching staff will say we can win our last 5 games(15 points)
you believe which one you want ?
wonder what odd a bookie would give on the Rams not hitting the play-offs ?
anybody know one?
as i said yesterday in my post quote ''no doubt the coaching staff will say we can win our last 5 games(15 points)''
i look at the back of the reporter to see talk of winning our last 5 games..PURE FANTASY !!!!
IF IF IF IF IF IF !!!!!!!
i tell you we wont hit the play-offs,wont win the last 5 games, and if you believe the utter nonsense of what were going to do
Rams fans are more delusional than i thought they were
target was top 6....epic fail and the matter should be accordingly be dealt with
dont promise what ya a.rse cant deliver

Whilst im keeping my pocket money firmly in my pocket while WJ is in charge, i cant deny that the team this year is better than the one weve put out for the last 3 yrs imho.
We were never in danger of finishing in the bottom two, we certainly dont have the money to compete with the top 3-4 and you have to admit that Batley and Keighley are decent sides so on that front i have no complaints.

Totally agree with you john regarding the last sentence, If we do appoint a new coach it would have to be someone who we believe can take us forward, not just a change because the fans say.

ee gi'over! He hasn't played for fev for nearly 8 years now. I've seen him play a lot for Barrow over the last 2 seasons and he's gone - big time. His ability to draw a man, put someone into a gap, creat some attacking flair are now as affective as I am in a Johnny Depp look-a-like contest! He has a kicking game (of sorts) and that's it. Too much baggage and spent skills. He was once a good player at our level who deserved a crack at the big time. He got it but an average SL player is what he was at his best. In a decent Barrow team he had just enough to deliver on a huge contract(and I mean unfathomably huge for the championship - Desomnd certainly divvied up for that). After then he was found more and more wanting with each game. Last season's Dewsbury game at home to Barrow was embarrassing from his point of view - as it was at Batley, at our gaff and at Sheffield. I saw them all.I felt like that about my ex as well. Doesn't mean she's a munter.

I think we will win tomorrow, but Swinton are no mugs; they might be losing games, but they can score points. IF we are to get near a play-off spot by winning all five remaining games(!) then we need to allow the Lions no bonus point. They appear to have a difficult run in too.

Would PD and Shut count as good half backs then?
Shut yes, PD no - a decent loose forward/hooker though.
As I said before it's easy to remember the better players whilst consigning the lesser ones to the dustbin of memory.

We have passed last years points total with four games to go. Keighley away is a big game now
