It must be nice to have backers & a council willing to stump up £450,000 to upgrade a speedway track.
Fair play to Allerdale council and to the Energy coast for stumping up....its a shame we cant get the same commitment in South Cumbria

I hope the Workington spectator brings his dog to double the attendance !
Oooooooooooh. Bitter, who's bitter?????? There has been many years when we haven't seen more than a car load from Barrow come to Workington friend, so I wouldn't go down that road!!!!!!
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

I must say I didn't particularly like the comet from Nigel Wood on passionate West Cumbria supporters. At the present time it seems to me that most of the support is in South Cumbria. (This is not sour grapes)

Nice for Workington, but I don't like the fact that the taxpayer is going to be forking out the best part of half a million quid for the privilege of hosting these games, when the RFL seems to have a bottomless pit of money available to prop up the likes of Bradford.

As far as I can see there was only 1 sour grape. Well done Town but as a Raiders supporter I wish it was us. I wouldn't think the recent history of our Club did us much favours.

Michael I think the West Cumbrian supporters are as passionate as we are so its a fair statement for once from the numpties at Red Hall. Good on the powers that be up the coast to back this venture but like you say I wish it was us but hey ho its not and its up to us to support these fixtures if at all possible...after all a nice summers day trip over Corney is a terrific experience......I do it every weekend to see the G/F in Haven.
Bearman...that was a little bit of a harsh statement towards the Worky faithful.

Think you might find a couple of hundred Raiders fans at DP for the Raiders v Worky match. I can't wait.

I was just taking the pee on your general attendances.
I really do wish you well, not only in the WC games but in the league too.
I realise there are a lot of good people working hard to make TGG a success and I wish them and you all the best.
