It must be nice to have backers & a council willing to stump up £450,000 to upgrade a speedway track.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Fair play to Allerdale council and to the Energy coast for stumping up....its a shame we cant get the same commitment in South Cumbria

Oooooooooooh. Bitter, who's bitter?????? There has been many years when we haven't seen more than a car load from Barrow come to Workington friend, so I wouldn't go down that road!!!!!!
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

Bearman what a ###### comment. Our board and the supporting council have really put the effort in to get the games to stay in Cumbria, and obviously we were the better option over barrow unless they would have won the bid. I hope the likes of morty and the lads who are decent guys make the trip and enjoy the games, bitter men like yourself can sit at home and sulk. As for numbers in the crowd, I doubt there will be as many raiders watching at derwent park in a few weeks than there was townies down at your place.

As far as I can see there was only 1 sour grape. Well done Town but as a Raiders supporter I wish it was us. I wouldn't think the recent history of our Club did us much favours.

I must say I didn't particularly like the comet from Nigel Wood on passionate West Cumbria supporters. At the present time it seems to me that most of the support is in South Cumbria. (This is not sour grapes)

Glad the games are going to be played in Cumbria.
Nice for Workington, but I don't like the fact that the taxpayer is going to be forking out the best part of half a million quid for the privilege of hosting these games, when the RFL seems to have a bottomless pit of money available to prop up the likes of Bradford.

Very bizarre comment about attendances . I went to the Samoa v Maori game I'm sure it was in 2000 and it was great with a big enthusiastic crowd. People will come from all over , even minor WC games are events that you remember for ages because they're so out of the ordinary and memorable.I think they'll be well patronised and great occasions and we should all get behind these Cumbrian showpieces.

My comment was meant "tongue-in-cheek" rather than nasty or sour grapes. It was more jealousy that we don't get that kind of local support!

Michael I think the West Cumbrian supporters are as passionate as we are so its a fair statement for once from the numpties at Red Hall. Good on the powers that be up the coast to back this venture but like you say I wish it was us but hey ho its not and its up to us to support these fixtures if at all possible...after all a nice summers day trip over Corney is a terrific experience......I do it every weekend to see the G/F in Haven.

Bearman...that was a little bit of a harsh statement towards the Worky faithful.

Well done to Workington for a succesfull bid. I may be wrong but i think that Barrow did not make a bid for the games when the bidding process was running last year.

Good news for Worky. Lets not forget we are all Cumbrian's after all!

Think you might find a couple of hundred Raiders fans at DP for the Raiders v Worky match. I can't wait.

Sorry guys if Ihave upset you on my tongue in cheek comment.
I was just taking the pee on your general attendances.
I really do wish you well, not only in the WC games but in the league too.
I realise there are a lot of good people working hard to make TGG a success and I wish them and you all the best.
