According to a few batley fans yesterday its not about money ;) I said ben black must have wanted alot in wages to join us so god knows what kear is paying him to stay here. But ive always said DP will not pay wages that out weigh a players skill and thats how it should be a coach should dictate the wages.

At a shareholders forum before the start of the season it was announced that Black was on relative peanuts for 2012 - an amount that surprised a lot of people. Maybe he just likes it at Batley and would rather be starting games week in, week out with us, rather than play a bit part at Featherstone on more wonga?
I imagine we must have offered John Davies megabucks to sign with us - especially given the lure of playing under such a fantastic coach at York in 2013.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

It's the fresh air. sumptuous women and bohemian culture that attracts 'em.

He was excellent when we played at York (scoring, if I recall correctly), and the York fans seem to rate him.
I get the impression from the website that he's signed for the remainder of the season. I hope it's for next season, too.

Can anyone clarify this please? Has he signed a permanent deal or is it a dual Reg? Is it as from now till the remainder of this season or is it for next season and he stays at York/Cas for now or is it for this season and next?

Sorry, just a bit confused!!

i've watched him several times in cas u20s, and i've seen him play for york and dewsbury against fev, and i don't think he's anything special. i am prepared to be proved wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. perhaps the kear factor is what he needs.

Not big enough for SL but an excellent signing for you guys IMO, very tough tackler, can run and bust tackles and scores tries as well, very disappointed he's not joining us but good luck to the lad, whether it's dosh or just the playing environment I am not sure he will have his reasons. Good Luck John.
