Can a player who is put on report also be sin binned or sent off for the same offence. They should be.
Greg Inglis tackle on the Dragons player tonight was as bad as they come. He'll probably be banned for 3 or more games. However, that is no consolation to the Dragons who lost a player, stretchered off but the Rabbitohs continue with a full complement including the perpetrator of the crime.
Thoughts please.

We had a player who had his jaw broken by the thuggish action of an opponent.
The miscreant got a three game ban,our player has been out since the 23rd April.
Tangi has just had his first run out in the reserves.

There was a case where the punishment didn't fit the crime.
Rangi Chase should have been unavailable for his team for the same length of time as the player he attacked was out of the game.

I agree with you GLD. But my question was should Chase have been sent off? Was he sent off? In NRL he wouldn't have been.

No he wasn't sent off. I saw the look in his eyes as Chase went into that tackle late after Ropati was held by two other players.
The look in his eyes, expressing his intentions, alone was worthy of a lengthy ban.

The bloke pleaded his case at the panel and was considered to have a good record hence the relatively low penalty he got.
Where they got that impression of him from I can't imagine.

The sin bin seems to be so little used in NRL that you could almost forget there is such a thing.
My experience in sub SL here is that the sin bin is less used now than it was four or five years ago.

It's as if putting someone on report is the answer to any on-field transgression.
Refs seem frightened of taking the sin bin or sending off decisions.

A Panthers player was sent off with 10 minutes to go. Not on report as far as I could see so probably no more punishment.

Just checked on teletext and see he was already on report for an earlier "chicken wing" so he should be gone for a long time (Travis Burns)

Inglis actually hits Young to the head with the top off his arm,so it`s a bad one. I was listening to the game as I was at work and Warren Ryan said Inglis should have been sent off,it was that bad. Mind you,Ryan`s been advocating the shouder charge should`ve been banned long ago as it is in rugby yawnion and he was going mental about it. This might be the end of Young as he`s retiring at the end of the season, though Fuifui made a comeback this week after being ko`d the previous week, but with the Dragons struggling to make the top eight,Young might think stuff it and retire early.
