Ronnie Dishonest ? - No

Ronnie Poor Ref - Yes

I think we have a problem at times in some quarters (fev fans) where if we are not shipping 40 plus past sides then its the fault of the ref.or whoever ...

Did the Bulldogs play well -- YES

Are the Bulldogs A Good side -- YES

Was the Ref poor for both teams --YES

This is a very competitive league with the top 6 sides able to turn either one over on their given day due to each side having quality teams, unfortunately the reffing standards are not up to the mark in certain quarters and when two quality teams are on the park they are shown up for what they are.

As daft as it sounds ronnie could have lost us the league title today and he could/as lost you 2nd place in the league. These bad decisions he makes could cost clubs money and maybe chances to play in finals he as got to get his act together or the RFL have to give him the boot. These bad calls he made today have got both sets of fans at each others throats when at the end of the day we all should be on ronnies back. With clubs going into admin etc these bad decisions could effect income to our clubs ie if this was a final today one of our teams would have lost alot of money by his bad decision making today.

He hasn't got me at anyone's throat Gaz. its a game o' footy. nowt more.
He's a sheeeite ref but today we were off the pace and our discipline was crapola. ronny made some gaffs and that's what's being debated rather than what was a bloody difficult fixture that needed some winning.

I sympthise wi Thundergaz not a few weeks ago we were at Keighley dominating the game when Ronnie had a brain fart and completly changed the game. I (and others....you know who you are John) went absolutly ape and I too accused him of cheating etc. He wasn't great today but did'nt change the result as he did'nt against Keighley, but I do cringe everytime we get him as as ref!

Good look next week against Batlifax I'll be rooting for Fev as I wud like you to win summat this season coz wer coming for you in the Championship final ;)

Personally I don't enjoy watching games where ronnie is reffing , I can cope with ineptitude but this man takes it to a whole new playing field , he didn't change the result and overall the best team did win but he damn well annoyed the gonads off me all afternoon , please hang up your whistle mr laughton

The ref cannot win, though, can he?

Just to give a couple of examples (and not meaning to light the blue touch paper!!).

1. There was a knock on from Batley playing down hill. From where I was stood it looked as if a Featherstone hand had actually pushed the ball, which, if correct, should have been play on. Some around me where straight onto the ref; but as he was the wrong side of the players to have seen the 'possible' hand he could only have given a knock on.

2. Rovers, playing down hill had a try dissallowed for a forward pass. If you were level with the pass you could see that it drifted forward a considerable distance, yet a section of the crowd apparently thought the ref incompetent at best and a cheat at worst and made their feelings known by booing a clearly correct decision.

If Thundergaz had been refereeing the game Fev would have won by 50 and if anyone had been daft enough to have let me near the whistle then no doubt there would have been a fine Batley win.

Putting refs' decisions to one side, it was a good game, and also putting the dissappointment of losing a close game to one side, it was a pleasure (of sorts!) to see such a classy stand off as Kain operating at this level. I would have loved to see us win, but the result was about right.

Some really idiotic posts about yesterdays game both on this forum and the Featherstone one. All his career, Ronnie Laughton has been a shockingly inconsistent referee. We know this. All RL fans at this level know this - so why react like you're surprised when he makes a few 'controversial' decisions? There were some decisions he made today that made my blood boil, and obviously some decisions that equally angered Featherstone fans. I've got to say, however, that it's often the case that refereeing choices that appear ludicrous from the terraces are actually proven to be correct when you watch a game back on DVD or television. For example, I'm hearing hogwash about Batleys third try being the result of a Walmsley 'knock-on'. If you watch the DVD you'll see a tremendous pick-up from a prop forward. I'll wager there are other moments where Ronald McDonald appeared to be the villain of the peace, but in reality made correct calls. I could name 5/6 incidents yesterday where I felt Batley got screwed, and vice versa for Featherstone fans I expect. Try watching the game without blinkers on (and, possibly, in a sober state), learn the rules to a more proficient standard, and cut out the ridiculous embittered 'the RFL hates my club and has told the referees to bum us in the showers at every chance' vitriol.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

Hes a CHEAT most of us at fev cannot be wrong. Best team won against your 13 and the ref and the 2 touch judges end of.

You talk rubbish and having read a lot of your good stuff you have lost a lot of credibility on this forum. Referees do not cheat they are human and make mistakes END OF. Now please go and whine on your own board and let sensible fans debate Rugby league and the Batley Bulldogs.Just glad you won dont know what you would be saying had we sneaked it. As has been debated on this forum referee baiting has gotten out of hand and people crying about them do the game a great injustice.

For me the big calls that we are debating were not the ones that peed me off, even though they got them wrong I could see where they might have interpreted them differently. What got me was the ones that were not given, ie the laying on in the scond half by batley, on one occasion after landing on his front in the tackle and trying to regain his feet saxton was turned on to his back well after the tackle was complete yet not penalty. In a half of rugby where you only get one pen for a blatant tackle in the air. you have to wonder!!!

Yeah and vicars dont fiddle with kids and coppers never break the law!
I am not saying he was cheating, but to outright make a statement that refs do not cheat is naive in my view as you point out they are human. On the whole I am sure they are fair but i am sure some must hold some biases.

Ben thaler made a statement in public that he dislikes Fev. Doesn't mean he deliberately shows bias towards our opposition - notwithstanding the gaff he made in the cats game!!
Sure, there are examples of bent ref in sport. i was watching some examples of it on tv on Sunday. it happens. but i have no evidence of anything other than ronny's ineptitude on Sunday that coupled with one of the best performances against us this season emphasised the errors the officials made.

To be honest Batley had me scared on many occasion through out the game and credit to them they played some cracking rugby. It was end to end rugby, real nail biting stuff, spoiled only by the bloke in the middle with his inconsistency on how to take charge of the game, which resulted in the players from both sides niggling one another, the man needs to take a step back and find out where he is going wrong.

. Not many players lay on like Stuart Dickens he always has a hand on the player getting up to play the ball and Fev players were constantly flopping on the tackled player after the tackle was completed so i suppose it depends if you have a Fev eye on the game or sight that sees a highly competative game where our team refused to just roll over and matched yours for commitment .

Strange that - is Thaler the ref one of the two thalers who played for the rams in the early noughties ? Pretty sure we signed them from erm....fev. :o

You had Adam Thaler, I believe, and he signed from Castleford.
On the subject of refereeing - you'd need to be a cyclops to seriously believe that only one side slowed the play-the-ball down during Sunday's game. All teams do it, every single one in the sport of Rugby League, with no exceptions.Even Featherstone. Its part of the sport these days.

yup you did sign Adam but i can't ever remember Ben playing semi pro at first team level. Or perhaps that's just my memory.
But I can assure you, his comments, unprofessional as they were, were made at a funeral of all places!
Again, doesn't make his bent, a cheat or favouring one side above another. Just makes himself look daft in my opinion.
