Rugby League World Cup 2013 announce fixture dates

Rugby League World Cup 2013 today announced the dates of the fixtures for next year’s tournament, 15 months before the opening ceremony in Cardiff.

The announcement last week of Derwent Park, Workington as the venue for Tonga v Scotland and Scotland v Italy means all match venues are now confirmed.

RLWC2013 General Manager Sally Bolton said: “It is important to note that a small number of the dates may be subject to change. Our host broadcast partners will also be announced soon and when the TV schedule is finalised we will be able to set in stone the fixtures and kick-off times.

“This is more exciting news for RLWC2013 and shows again that we are in great shape in terms of planning. Announcing these fixture dates now will allow Super League and Championship fans to start making plans for the tournament as they receive our ‘early bird’ offers with their season ticket renewals over the next few weeks.

“We would encourage all Rugby League fans to buy early, especially for the showpiece games, as we have already had enquiries from St Helens fans, who were the first to receive their RLWC2013 ticket offers with their renewal information this week. Judging by our social media interaction we expect many more enquiries as the country enjoys a massive few weeks of sporting action.”

RLWC2013 tickets go on general sale on Friday October 26, one year out from the first match double-header at the Millennium Stadium.

Now can somebody do one of those Excel spreadsheets with the draw where we fill in the scores and the tables?

USA (4 days and 4 days between games) and Scotland (5 days then 4 days) have the toughest draws. They have very short breaks between their games. It's not as bad for the other teams.

I'm sure I will at some point.

Bloody annoyed that they've released these fixtures on a Monday morning, I'm supposed to be getting some work done!

Cheers, it just took a while for it to come out elsewhere (ie RLWC website, which still hasn't been updated).

At a push already thinking of getting to about 17 games depending on kick-off times. Can't wait for this now.

Just hope for sensible kick off times to let fans get to as many games as possible.

The two quarters on the saturday being prime example.....the RFL need at least a couple of hours between these games and try and encourage fans to go to both.

you'd expect the wrexham game to be a welsh game which many including myself would like to go to, but not if we miss what will be the expected england semi at wigan the same day. The RFL should ensure we have a 2pm KO for the Wrexham game with the wigan one being on at 6 / 6.30. and put cheap coaches on between the venues!

Likewise Sat 2nd november should be Aus v Fiji at saints at around 2pm again, and the england game at huddersfield at 6 to encourage fans to go to saints as a curtain raiser.

IMO the rfl should offer some double up tickets for these events to encourage turn outs to both.

Fiji v Ireland at Rochdale ...........now which plonker came up with that one

Not to mention the ENGLAND v Australia ..... in Wales ...NOT England
Papua New Guinea v France . . . In Hull and NOT France

Seems that wales are very lucky as they are the only Home nation to play ALL 3 of their Fixtures AT Home in Wales , even France are Not at home in all 3 , as neither are England .

Whoever came up with those 3 fixtures and locations is obviously NO FRIEND of RUGBY LEAGUE and should be sacked immediately. Is it any wonder that Rugby league has never grown in the UK with idiots like that STILL IN CHARGE after over 100 years ..........

Rochdale Council bid for that game as they have a large ex-pat Fijian population...

The opening ceremony so consequentely the England game is in Wales IOT ensure the tournament gets off to a bang in decent conditions (roof)...

I support these KO times! It would give me chance to get from Avignon to Huddersfield
