I do think that there MAY be more Irish people living in Ireland than Fijians living in Rochdale ............ I may be wrong .....

There MAY be more Irish people, or people of Irish descent, in the north Manchester/south-east Lancashire area who are likely to attend a rugby league than in, say, Dublin. The fact is that Rochdale put forward a bid for the game, using their links with Fiji as a selling point, that was accepted. As far as we know, no one apart from Limerick bid from Ireland. The RLWC organisers are not going to make the same mistake they made in 2000 of using the game's premier international tournament as a vehicle for testing numerous new markets.

Did Oldham make any serious attempt to win the right to stage a game?

There are more 'Irish' living in the US than in Ireland. Should we play the game there?

What's your point?

You should be in charge with the buissness acumen that you obviously have ........... Crowd ... More irish in Ireland than fijians in Rochdale ... They have the knowse to play the others in Ireland ....so why play Fiji in front of 1,000 or so at Rochdale ? in fact why do Rochdale play in Rochdale they would get less spectators if they played in Fiji or Ireland wouldnt they ? Which is whjat the RL seem to be trying to do ....keep the attendances down as low as possible ...... Ireland should be playing in IRELAND ...bet you if the W Cup was palyed in Aussie they would play the Fiji games in .....errrr Fiji do you think ....or Townsville

The world cup was played in Aus in 2008. Fiji played in Wollongong, Gosford, Gold Coast and Sydney - not Fiji.

Originally this world cup was to be played in just England and Wales but the RFL received a bid from Limerick to stage one game.

I'm sure Australia v Ireland would get a higher crowd in Australia than in Ireland, but the World Cup is being hosted by England & Wales. Ireland are lucky to be getting any matches at all

I can only say, RIDICULOUS....... Lets take Rugby League to a new audience is what the RFL are all about. Why are The Scotland games being played outside of Scotland. It would appear that the RFL really do not want to drive Rugby League like they keep saying they do?

As it is supposed to be England and Wales hosting. France and Ireland in my opinion shouldn't have been given any games!

There were no Scots bids for matches. Matches were given to places that actually wanted them and intend to promote them.

i see the logic of playing two French games in France. They get good attendances which they would not get in England or Wales. Plus Perpignan or Workington in November, hmmm
