Absolutely brilliant set of fans, and that's coming from a yorkie. Sat next to some of your support in the bar at half time, they had every reason to be disillusioned with some of the decisions, but demonstrated good humour, sportsmanship and a level of stoicism I wish I could match. You were unlucky not to pull off at least a draw today, but hey, the rams have had that sort of luck on a regular basis recently so maybe we were due the rub of the ref, Either way, your team were a credit to you in the second half, and your fans were a credit to the game. hope we both comfortably survive the drop next season.

Always like going over to Dewsbury,a neat little ground and friendly folk. Kozzie even managed to befriend Roger the Ram who has to be the scariest mascot in rugby league.

...a neat little ground .

Very true, it's got just the basics needed and has some old fashioned atmosphere as well. I wish our new home was going to be similar. One side a nice all seater stand opposite a good sized covered standing terrace. Back of the posts at both ends can be improved as and when etc.

But important not to make the gross error of judgement of former Rams chairman Bob McDermott, whom believed the RFL would allow promotion into the top flight if the team won the then "Northern Ford Premiership" while playing at a ground of that standard.
Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

Our then chairman huffed and puffed until the RL called his bluff and, it is rumoured, offered us SL on condition we could provide a sustainable business plan. There are totally unsubstantiated allegations that a financial incentive was offered to drop our interest in SL. It is also alleged he snapped their hands off when the offer was made, although what happened to the money (if of course it existed) is anybodies guess. ;)

It seemed to me that Bob McDermott thought himself bigger than the RFL and had a deluded belief that failure to meet the minimum standards would not be a blocker to promotion. It appeared to be a game of brinkmanship between him and the RFL, but in truth Bob McDermott never put himself in a winning position.

The ground undoubtedly has potential for an increase in capacity. If I remember correctly there was a scheme to develop part of the car park as a revenue raiser at one stage, but it never came to pass. Once you have got a ground of a certain size the practicalities of upgrading it are often very difficult to overcome if success comes on the pitch, it is one thing that worries me about Agecroft.

One step at a time Phil, let's get to Agecroft first and worry later! Season ticket details sent out and no news on home venue for 2013.

Is it any wonder fans' thoughts are currently drifting onto the subject of 'Agecroft' instead of the topic in hand? It's obviously because we're all so on edge about what surely is the biggest event in the Lions' community’s (club, fans and natives of S&P) scenario since that awful day back in 1992 when we saw Station Road condemned.

Just keep to the topic, this topic started as congratulating our fans and its ended about 'we need to hear about the new stadium' just support the boys on the pitch and then in due course when the time is right I'm sure the kidds will make an announcement, but there is obviously not much to comment on so therefore there is this silence from them, I doubt they are going to just start building a stadium without telling us? It seems people are more interested in stadium than what is currently happening with the team on the pitch!

Yes I am more interested in the stadium than what's going on the pitch! I've said all along that the stadium takes precedence over on field matters this season.

Hear, hear. Building a competitive team on the field is the relatively easy bit, particularly nowadays with the almost wholesale player merry-go-round every 12 months.

I'm on nights...I'll be hot n sweaty.

Dewsburys ground major flaw for me is it seems too narrow. We never seem able to get it out wide.
ON TOPIC ; It always generates a great atmosphere as it was last Sunday.

Strange, I have always preferred watching what is on the pitch than watching the stadiums......

Whilst a smart new stadium would be very nice, it wouldn't look so great empty due to a poor product on the pitch. A good team is needed as people want to follow a winning team.
