Bike races on the underused athletic track, Bradley Wiggins is a Wigan RL supporter, the track is pretty wide, just think if we got him down to start a race maybe an hour or two before kick off think of the PR and crowd we would get!! The Tour de Hunslet you know it makes sence, is there any mileage ( boom boom ) in this idea ?

DONT MOCK.--- it's an idea better than those who are quick to reply and never have a idea of their own--
and t's not a bad idea, pass on to HIST marketing guru, and the Leeds Cycling club, and the HIST Media manager could release the story, and we should get some good publicity
somebody tell me how to get rid of the underlining, my computer appears to have a mind of i's own.

Are you for real? Cycling on a "athletics track".... the clue is in the name! It's designed for running on not bicycle types!
Here's an idea, why don't u stop threating and join hist... discuss :-)

I don't think Mycoe ever reads this Forum, or maybe one line at a time. I have already stated that I will join Hist if my conditions are met. Yes I will pay £ 60 a season or £100 for 2 seasons then we would see who wants us to have a GOOD club in the future and are prepared to pay for it, and those who want us to have a GOOD club, in the future, and want somebody else to pay for it.-- at present 87 people in HIST paying £12 that makes £1044, -- myself and the HIST chiefs paying £60 each and we are nearly there, we only need 18 people paying £60 and we are there. Are you for real? Cycle event at the stadium yes a road race with the final circuit round the playing area. Did you see the Olympic flame and all the transport with it going round the stadium?-- would it damage the running track it's hardly used ?
Far fetched ideas maybe--- do you remember the time we offered terms to Will Carling to play for us, or the American boxer to come to SLS, both Steve Balls ideas. Both were never likely to happen but look at the publicity they got.
DISCUSS.

so you're refusing to join because it's too cheap? why not also join the myrtle & flame club, lifeline, etc and it'll take you past the magic £60 a year figure.

I don't think it was an American boxer it was a basketball player called Sheldon (can't remember his surname). Played in the second team about ten year ago. Could pluck a high ball out of the sky but other than that he wasn't much cop. Might have played a game for the first team but didn't play full 80 if memory serves me correct.
Yeah carling was fotherby's idea, and I'm sure I remember a rumour about us signing Jonah Lomu at around the same time too! Could be wrong though.

Great idea to make use of the track. We are already involved with getting a Middleton Park Run started. Park runs are a free 5k event that take place all around the country every Saturday morning. It will get our name into the community as well as getting the people of South Leeds off their sofas.
It would make sense to do something on a match day as well. Part of the RL funding next year is dependent on our involvement in the community so these are the type of things we need to start doing.

It's fair to say we get the seed of an idea but what we need are details and how it's going to be executed. Good examples of this are the match day badges, the supporter had an idea and delivered on it. Our own Harry the Hawk had the fun day idea (Parnaby Tavern 12 aug) and has been busy making it happen. So what we'd ask is that if anyone does have an idea then try and flesh out how it will be put into practice.
The Hunslet Olympics is a great idea, I suspect to do it justice it will be too late for this season, but there is nothing to stop us planning for next year. This is where we need someone to own the idea and turn it into reality. I'll be in the Phoenix before the Leigh match ( collecting membership), so if anyone does have ideas and more importantly the enthusiasm to make it happen then bob across to see me.

Have you noticed that people who come on here knocking other peoples ideas, or verbally abusing them never come on with ideas of their own.?
