And what have the RFL done to help the community clubs?

There's more funding than ever available to Community Clubs, I'm forever reading about one project or another going ahead. The amateur game was in a similar state in the previous Winter seasons, the Summer & The RFL seem an easy scapegoat for some people

I'm sure the players at those teams will be falling over themselves to play in the Pennine League!

Top four or five sides in the Pennine have been beating NCL sides on a regular basis so the standard should be ok for any side wanting to return to the traditional season and it probably could get better.

I think overall from U13's through to Open Age this season has been an extremely mixed bag across board, with some seeing the benefits and others to their detriment not, one thing I do think is very obvious as a result is that the Community game is far more fragmented and divided than it has ever been on anything due to the switch to a March - November season.

I think the RFL have attempted to focus heavily on the positives through the media and social networking as a result in order to deflect attention from the many negatives, unfortunately that will not solve the problems and I do feel, as I expressed right at the very start of all this, they (RFL) never did and still don't have enough of an understanding of the Community game at all levels to make a March - November season work across the board and that mixed with far to many agenda's from various fragments of the Pro game and performance aspect will I fear be the ultimate reciepe for disaster in the long term for the Community game as a whole should some common sense not prevail in the not to distant future............JMO!

I wasn't talking about the standard, more the lack of enthusiasm to spent the latter part of their Saturday afternoons trawling the rugby pitches of Leeds and Castleford for missing teeth!

Their final meeting for it only had 6 teams turn up West Bowling, Queens, Sharlston, Drighlington, Wibsey and Woolston.

It was at a short notice and BARLA had to wait for the teams who wanted summer had left.

Barla have done wonders for the game spending literally tens of thousands of it member clubs funds by touring such places as Ukraine, Serbia, Russia, Jamaica and the annual jaunt to Dubai!

All at the clubs expense,

I wonder why the RFL never funded these tours but had no problems funding every jaunt they put their name too?

So what is wrong with Barla , is it the people who run it . Who is the head of Barla , who is it who as the vision , who runs Cumbria , who runs Yorkshire and who runs Lancashire . Who controls the finance , who makes the big decisions . And last but not least who organises the jolly boys tours

BARLA's problem is they're too byzantine in decision making with leagues that stopped playing 40 years ago having the casting vote and having lots of local cups that clog up the fixture list plus too many petty rules and needless rep games and expensive tours that infringe on clubs

The RFL have the opposite problem they're too fast to change things every few years most damagingly with academies and scholarships and they have too few rules letting clubs willy nilly call off games without punishment and leave the league structure til last minute often throwing in late changes or even replacing clubs midseason.

The National Conference League and Pennine League in particular but to an extent a few of the other playing leagues are what is run well in the amateur game though even though you still get moaners.

As an example to getting people to support your club as we hope we do at miners, we are having a BBQ after Saturdays Miners v Wath Brow match once refreshments and speeches have been made. Our second team will return to the club after they have played away to meet up with their families to enjoy the BBQ and music. Hopefully it will be a success again.
Its nice to be important, but never forget its important to be nice!!!
