That is the foundation just for the seating.

I'm not a civil engineer, but don't you have to build the grandstand structure and put the seating on top?

I'm sure all will become clear in the coming weeks.

Not if the grandstand is not integral to the building. The seating was always going to be in front of any building, not on top.

Stag - are u planning to do any on-the-road games in Herts, e.g. at Stevenage or Luton? I work in Stevenage and know several RL fans at my workplace alone who live in Herts/Beds. I would guess there are quite a few potential RL fans in these places, and additionally local RU is very minor whilst the football teams are sleeping giants (Luton and Stevenage are really big populations).

Also as you know it is not possible to get across Herts from these large towns to Hemel using Trains.

On the road games would be for the board to deceide. But we will be targeting a radius around us, and as you know if we only target 10-15 miles that includes millions of people.

Aha, that explains it - cheers!

What's the point in playing 'on the road' games? Build up a local fanbase.

No spacer blocks keeping the reinforcement off the membrane and allowing the concrete to flow under the mesh ???
Can't have re bar sitting on the floor...minimum of 35mm cover on a job like that.
30 years as a steel fixer and never seen any thing like it  :D

ooooh Matron, Carry On Scaffolding!!! :D

It will be great to see Hemel in CC1 next season. I met someone recently at a meeting with clubs and charities in Derbyshire that had been funded by the People's Health Trust. After I had done my bit he said "Rugby League - it's a great game". This somewhat surprised me from someone with a Southern accent but it turns out he played for years at Hemel and now lives in Kent working for the Youth Sport Trust. We had a good chat - I don't think he was making it up as he knew the chairman's name and Hemel's recent results.

There must be loads of people who have been involved at the club over 30 years who might be attracted in for the odd game, or to get involved in fund raising/merchandise etc. I hope Sheffield get drawn down there in the Cup so that old boy Jack Howieson can get a run out.

What is the cost of the structure shown and is it possible to put a roof over it at some future date?

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.
