I did enjoy the game but mainly because there was something important at stake for Fax - Fev had already ticked a box so less at stake ( though it dents their tag as the best team).

You accuse SL fans of being patronising but you are being exactly the same in that statement in my opinion.

They can tick whatever boxes they like. They can go to the European Court or even the United Nations. It will not alter the fundamental truth that jaas has been shown time and time again, just like Leigh, neither Halifax nor Fev can sustain a SuperLeague club.

Yes, they can. Give over. Its Super League, theyre not Super Heroes. Stop making out to be 1,000,000 miles in front.

Congrats Halifax.

Cummins Out.

What I dont get is all the goodwill from SL fans who on the other hand are also against these side being promoted. If the NRC fibal is very good then surely a reason for these clubs progressing

Don't know any SL fans on here. I do know lots of RL fans though. The mechanism for your club to "progress" clearly exists as you well know. The fact is that no one is foolhardy enough to waste their money on such ill-fated "progress". It is ultimately doomed to failure....with the fans being the biggest losers.

If anyone is being patronising about the leagues below SL it is Lobby. He is the only one being dismissive about this game, everyone else seems to be of the opinion that is was a brilliant game. Certainly both sets of players and coaches thought there was something to play for.

Also, by Lobby's strange logic there is nothing to play for in the CC final or the SL grand final, as there is no promotion to a higher level league for the winner on the back of them.

Yes well done Fax.

However, It is hard enough for well established well managed well financed well sponsored SuperLeague clubs with a sustainable fan base to make ends meet. It aint possible for Fev, Fax or Leigh to do it.. Dream on!

Also, have to say the premier Sport coverage is a superior product to Sky these days. Great commentary team of Dave Woods and Nobby. And being able to hear Ian Smith, the video ref talk through his decision making process is a great innovation.

John, Wakefield were not as well supported as Fev in 1998 when they went into SL. They are now getting 8k this is because they are in the top flight. so why wouldn't the same be true for Fev or 'Fax? Especially 'Fax. Great RL town ,great ground. Victims of the Bulls' predatory marketing techniques in West Yorkshire. Feathertsone Rovers are a well run successful side. In a two ten team diviision comp. they could have a place. IMO such a comp would add so much to Rugby League, including many more competitive games. And judging by the football offered this afternoon a better product to sell to Sky. Unfortunately those in charge at Red Hall would seem to be incapable of selling ice cream to Arabs, or central heating to Inuit.

In the 98 season when trinity won the league and grand final we had a bigger average attendance than fev. We're starting to get good crowds again now because the City (public & bussiness) are starting to trust and back the club due to the best management we have had since the 60s. Were starting to reach our potential and Wakefield has massive potential. Hope P & R does return it will be good for all the divisions and the RL in general.

I hate to break it to you but actually the Challenge Cup and SL finals are the pinnacles of our game. The NRC clearly isnt.

I thought as per usual Premier commentary was top marks. I like the fact they dont go over the top but help add the excitement at the right level. Ian Henderson offers things from a current players viewpoint and gives good thoughts. Nobby the same but from a Coaches viewpoint and they both explain things well and why. Dave Woods just sticks to commentating and doesnt go off on one like Eddie Hemmings does. Good to hear the vid Ref and his decisions. thanks premiersports

But as youve said, Wakey won the league in 98' so no surprise they were biggervthan Fevs. Pretty sure Leigh's average gate was very similar to Wakeys in 2005 despite us only getting 5pts and being relegated. Its taken Wakey a long time to increase gates but theyre still not that great. Given a 14 year tenure in SL nowadays I'm sure Leigh, Fev Fax be getting more like 8-10k in SL.

Why aren't hudds Salford or cas getting 8- 10k then? Theyve been in sl longer than us. Bags of potential at wakey biggest City in England without a pro football team the club now been run correctly and new stadium on the horizon we were a sporting giant in the 60s and the giant is awakening

Not strictly true.
There are 9 bigger towns that have no pro football team

rubbish. Face facts- these towns have no money,no rich guys daft enough to even try

You talk about facts John but your argument here is also without substance. There was a recent report in the Sun newspaper that Rovers had a queue of wealthy backers just waiting for them to be admitted to SL. Yes, we all were sceptical having read it in the Sun.

However, the Rovers CEO Craig Poskitt confirmed to a packed house of sponsors at the recent home game v Batley that the Sun report was indeed accurate. Does that alter your views in any way? It did mine.

And so it goes: what should have been a thread talking about what a brilliant game we have all witnessed, given excellent presentation by the broadcaster, Premier Sports, once again descends into the usual, boring circular argument about P & R. As if there aren't enough threads to bore us to tears on the subject already?

Could I ask, just for once, that those fixated on the subject stick to the threads on the subject and leave those of us who want to enjoy and discuss the actual rugby to do just that?

It's always been said wakey is the biggest City in England never to have a pro soccer team that's why Wakefield FC are trying to make a go of it with the fa wanting a team performing in the higher structure of the football ladder from Wakefield ie moving into the community stadium with us. Who are the 9 other bigger city/towns? Either way apart from Leeds hull Bradford, Wakefield is bigger than most RL areas we have the potential and we are starting to reach it

Not sure on the exact figures and I know every side was struggling attendance wise back then due to the forced relegation dissalution. Wakefield and HKR had he biggest crowds that year. HKR (played twice at home) and Dewsbury were our biggest home attendances. We played fev on at fri night in heavy rain which effected the attendance with not many at all from fev
