First blast out on the bike since Autumn took grip. Left the house pristine, returned like a mud wreslter. Heavy, heavy trails.

Tis the Season to be Muddy.

Ran the Clowne Half Marathon route as a warm-up to the real thing in 2 weeks time.

Did the big shoes slow you down?

If you use "should of", "would of" or "could of", you are a moron.

24.05 park run on Saturday , fastest for about 3 month , hard work ,looking at getting under 24 on a regular basis .

Biked to the run about 5mile seems to help early in the run as my breathing is more controlled  , breathing wasnt good when I got back home !!

Parkrun PB for me, 6 days after a very good time in the half-marathon. Quite muddy/slippy and legs still a bit tired from the previous weekend, so I think there is a little bit more to come if we get a nice crisp frosty morning to harden the ground up. Hadn't really come close to my previous best time in past 12 months, so I'd come round to thinking that age had got the better of me and I'd plateaued, so it's been a good week. Group of us have booked the university track in a couple of weeks time, going to do a mile time trial which will be something new for me. Might borrow my 13yr old son's spikes - he's got bigger feet than me!

Tim2, how did Clowne half marathon go?

1.53.17 for the Clowne Half - 1 min 40 quicker than last year and handled the hills much better.

1x30K, 5xHalf Marathon, 1x10mile, 5x10K, 6x5 miles, 30+ 5Ks

Nearly 1000K in training and races.

On Sunday a group of us ran from Edale up to Kinder plateau and down via Jacob's Ladder. 13.5 miles with 600m of climb and a variety of interesting terrains!

Next Sunday is the Percy Pud 10K, I'm doing 5 parkruns over Christmas / New Year (including 2 on New year's day) and a handicap event on 28th December.

There's a great piece about parkrun on Radio 4 - 45 minutes in. Worth a listen.

Interesting. In 2014, I've done 1xMarathon, 2x Half Marathon, 4x10K, 1x5 miles & 30+ 5ks (parkrun, although only a few of these have been run hard). Should pass the 2000km mark this week for total running. My original aim was to do at least 100 miles per month.  Almost all of my training is s-l-o-w, 6 minutes per km or slightly more, but I'm still seeing significant year on year improvements off it.

Your run on Sunday probably equals my total climb for the year - one of the local half marathons (Grunty Fen) I did in 2013 has elevations from -2m all the way up to 8m above sea level.

This year - Half Marathon PB, longest ever run (30K), 5 mile PB and most miles run in a year. parkrun PB as well as passing 50 parkruns. I got course bests at Dronfield 10K, Clowne Half and Worksop Half.

Next year I am running at least one marathon and hope to run 1000 miles in total and beat my 10 mile, 10K, 5 mile and 5K PBs

Just done parkrun for the first time in months. Was going great at under 18 minutes for first two laps but had a coughing fit on the last lap and nearly threw my ring up. Finished it by walking round (on principle) but dread to think what time it was. Annoying

Last two park runs have been very cold but superb mornings in East Park . 23.40 ish for both runs , very pleased as I've knocked about 20 - 30 secs of my last few weeks times . Can tell plenty of effort going into the run ,legs feeling it after the runs . Big effort to get under 23 mins this xmas holiday .
