Anyone read the bit on page 2 of the league express about super league teams pairing up with championship teams and doing away with the academy competition? Could be interesting times.....I wonder if Town would be linked up with Hull KR due to the current link up? Personally I'd be busting a gut to join up with Wigan or Warrington judging by how many players they have on the current academy tour in Oz. That's if Town link up with anyone at all that is! Seeing as the RFL seem to be handling things they'll probably make a right a-hole of it!

Think they'll want a joint Cumbria team in it, think they already started one at the younger age groups

So if there's no academy where wil the funding that the rfl give the super league clubs to run the a cademy go.does this mean championship clubs will actually start to receive money off the rfls sky deals.for me this just means the rfl are trying to save the upper tier clubs money by using the lower league clubs to bring there younger players through even more than how the dual reg system works now.so franchising will go and lower clubs will stay where they are and be used as feeder clubs and super league will end up being a closed shop which to me doesn't sound like a very good idea for clubs with any sort of ambitions

Is there not already wheels in motion for a new RL Academy situated at the Lakes College, Lillyhall?
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.
