Will be interesting to see how that will work.........
I dont think a club like Rochdale Hornets is big enough to have a Head Coach and a Sporting Director, surely this reduces the autonomy available to the Head Coach - especially when you have a Sporting Director with quite a big personality
To me this suggest the next coach will come from within the club - possibly Chris Hough - if so good luck to him - this is the only way I can see it working as having worked under JS Chris will have a similar style/views

It actually says "I may give up coaching."
But we've heard him talking before.
I'm not sure he knows what he wants, but I can't imagine him ducking out, this close to the end of the season.

That clears that then, hopefully the majority of the squad will stick around as it seemed a lot of the players are here largely because of the coach

Can't see him staying on unpaid pal and I also can't see Matt Calland coming in to work under last years coach

All Hornets directors are unpaid directors, in fact they are the opposite they actually pay in a way. All are season ticket holders and pay money to Hornets for away director's passes. I collect money from them for Programmes and Golden Gambles as well.
Stanky clearly said in a Tweet that he had 'stepped down as coach but remained the sporting director.'
I think we'd all be best advised to wait for the official statement before we start welcoming Matt Callend into the 'Hot Seat' as well.

But on Twitter he says he is fully committed for the rest of the season but will not be coaching in 2013,very confusing.Stanky and Jack

On a personal note i would love to see Matt Calland up at Hornets, hes equally enthusiastic about Hornets and has that amature link locally as well as his Hopwood Hall links. Im sure after Halifax and his achievments there he will be itching to get back into Semi Pro RL. I also feel Matt would probabaly put 100+ fans on the gate each week.
I have to agree with Snoopy Loopy, i doubt Matt would be comfortable working under the prevoius coach, I feel it would be foolish by the Board not to talk to Matt direct, Matt loves the game and has a passion for Hornets that would rival anyones. There is also local lads Chris Coop (salford), Gareth Pratt (England Youngsters) who must be considered in some form, should they want to get involved?
My understanding of Stankys role is that he is to run every aspect of the club barr coaching the team, i am sure he will be there to offer an ear or an opinion to a coach should he need it, but he seems to talk alot about bringing money into the club via exposure, sponsors etc, etc. The clubs needs funds if we are to progress. I for one have questioned Stanky direct on how as a club we are progressing. Looking at our game on sunday and the top 4, they all have a player or players who can do that little bit of magic that will win games, we dont have that players because we dont have the funds.
Stankys role -Whilst a tought task, as we are all aware the the fickle public in the town, can only be good.. Harsh this maybe, but i think Stanky will find he is a better influencer and business man than RL coach in the longterm, a bit of a statement this, but dont be suprised in years to come if Stanky turns up high up at the RFL or SL, the game needs people who are passionate, british and have a good knowledge of the game, Stanky has played in one of the great Saints teams, he has coached, he is a business man, he is good with the media and the running of a RL club, all be it a small one can only help his personal portfolio.
His recent spats with the RFL panel may not help, but this would be short sighted on there behalf. I wish Stanky all the best, as the Co-op board have done a decent job steadying the ship this last 3-4 years. The club now needs to kick on, or resign itself to its current standards for a long time to come.
I just hope he gets the support of the town, board, fans, coaches and players a like. And Stanky can influence new buisnesses to get involved. If we get the products right on and off the pitch, hopefully we can move out of this division?

Good post Fillipo, I too would like to see Matt Calland given a crack at the job for many of the reasons you said:
He is a local lad who played at Hornets for much of his career – would hopefully provoke more interest in Hornets watching a former fans favourite from the 1990/2000s in charge – just might rekindle a bit of interest from those “sleeping” fans in the town
Links with the young lads coming through at Hopwood Hall (hopefully the best of them would end up at Hornets to continue development and could even bring in transfer revenue when moved on) and also Mayfield will mean he can attract the best of local lads without spending a fortune

I don't know the coach but I know a few that do and he sounds like quite a polarising character. Like someone has already mentioned having him broadcast the fact that he is to remain at the club as a director will put a lot of people off applying for the job. On the flip side Houghy will offer consistency, is a good bloke and a proper local lad who will have a good understand of local talent
