Great win by the Raiders. We destroyed them in the first half, a bit unusual as this year we have been better in the second half. We went off the boil a bit but the game was over by half time. Ryan Shaw scored 4 tries and kicked 5 cons. ( I was desperate for him to kick the last con as that would have taken the score to 44-16 the same score I witnessed yesterday as the Coventry Bears defeated the Nittingham Outlaws) but it wasn't to be. He was named as MOM and the crowd was 1337.

Good first half performance today that blew Oldham away, 2nd half got scrappy after Roden was sin binned. I thought Oldham were the worst team I've seen visit Craven Park this season, and the scoreline flattered them a bit. Shaw was good but I thought Haney was brilliant, he doesn't half put himself about!

I would of given Haney MOM. Oldham were very poor. Nixon didn't touch the ball or make a tackle the whole first half I think. We will need to up our game slightly for next week.

Great result yesterday, with some great tries. Took our foot off the gas in the latter stages of the game. Giving Liam
Harrison the arm band has paid dividens this season. I don't think I've seen anyone in a Barrow shirt lead by example as much. Lee Haney is the most underrated player in a Barrow shirt. Well done Ryan Shaw and a great MOM performance yesterday.
Anybody know the half time draw number or if it's already been claimed?
Thanks

I feel Nixon isn't pullin his weight. I think I saw him make less than a handful of tackles and touched the ball once in open play. For me shaw deserved mom for his efforts. Overall the game was good and feel next week will decide the title winners

Upon reflection it wasnt that bad a performance yesterday ...its just If we had carried on and not taken our foot off the gas we couldve clawed back a lot of the points difference the other sides around us have. Those two tries Olham scored in the 2nd half were due to awful tackling and in one case a blatant forward pass.
My expectations are too high I think ????????
Well done to the lads on another win

Wonder if they were under orders to ease up a bit and save energy for the Title decider ?
Both teams fired up next weekend in a winner takes all type of battle, going to be fireworks.

We can afford to lose so long as we get a bonus point. However, I'm sure that won't be the plan.Wonder if they were under orders to ease up a bit and save energy for the Title decider ?

The following report has been sent to me in an email. I hadn't seen it but thought it would be interesting to our readers.
Oldham have sacked coach Tony Benson after they fell out of the Championship 1 top six at the weekend.
Benson, 45, has been in charge for the past four seasons, leading Oldham to three Grand Finals, but Sunday's 42-16 at Barrow proved the last straw.
Assistant Martin Roden will now take charge on a caretaker basis for the rest of the season, with the Roughyeds chasing a play-off place to rescue a disastrous season which has seen them miss out on a top four promotion spot.
Chairman Chris Hamilton said: "Despite what people may think it is always hard to tell somebody you are going to dispense with his services.
"Tony has been at the club for four years and has known, through no fault of his own, more than his fair share of difficult times.
"He has always bought into the ethos of the club and its situation.
"This year has been extra difficult for him because of the catalogue of injuries we have had for a big chunk of the season.
"He had earned the right to be given the opportunity try to improve things when the injury situation eased, but coaches are ultimately judged on results.
"I have, therefore, taken this decision now to give the club the opportunity to be best prepared for next season, albeit that there is still plenty for us to play for over the next three league games and hopefully in the play-offs."
Benson previously coached Leigh, and led Oldham to the Championship 1 Grand Final in 2009 and 2010.

I'm only going as a speccie !no no no wrong attitude my freind . go up there thinking a bonus point is ok and we will play like oldham did when they came on sunday.
I want us to win but I will take that bonus point. That's why I'm only going as a spectator not a competitor.
Don't worry Darren and Phil will be stressing the need to come away with the 3 points and to deny them the BP.
But going back to my original post Workington will be unhappy with a win if they don't stop us getting a point

Thanks Michael. I hadn't seen that either. The feeling I get from Oldham fans is that the problem at the club goes deeper than the coach and on-field performance though. There seems to be widespread disillusionment with their current chairman, and that the club is now at it's lowest ebb since it was reformed when the Bears left Super League. The following report has been sent to me in an email.
