It wasn't what he said but the disparaging tone in the way he said it.
Is RU the only sport he likes, if do then he should be sacked as a sports journalist

Barry Davies's efforts so far on the hockey show that unfortunately father time has caught up with him. Especially if the Brits make it into the later stages I sincerely hope someone else gets to commentate on the semis and final so as the nation can make the most of it.
Gary Linekar is out of his depth most of the time, the level of his ignorance on cycling demonstrated during his supposed *interview* of Bradley Wiggins was particularly cringe-worthy and a bit of an insult to Wiggins' recent achievements. You would have thought the BBC would either have given some training to inject Linekar with more background knowledge prior to the event, or used someone else who actually has a clue.
The guy on the rowing got over excited whenever GB was in contention and tended to lose his voice almost completely in the closing stages. For that sort of *commentary* you could merely stick a mic next to an enthusiastic fan in the stands.
Its a pity some of the better radio commentators haven't been given a chance.

Id be surprised if Lineker, or anyone else at the BBC, was au fait with Wiggins palmares this season. His employer is obsessed with football so thats what they expect him to know about
Wiggos victory in the 'Tour derrr France' is reinforced by his other wins in Paris-Nice, Tour de Romandy and Dauphine, each of which on their own was a fabulous achievement. Surely those would have caught someones attention within the BBC
Hugh Porter has a nice manner and can still explain the more complicated races such as the Madison, Points Race, Kierin etc but his calling of the road races was bordering on the Ray French-esque, Im afraid

The footage of the four people watching Mo Farah's win is telling.
Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson and Michael Johnson out of their seats and cheering.
Inverdale sitting there and adjusting his earpiece.
To be fair to him, and I agree with Peacock, he is nauseating, But Inverdale did say that his Producer was trying to yell instructions of what was going to happen next down his ear-piece, and with all the noise in the stadium he was having difficulty, it doesn't explain why he is a greasy T*at though.
Jamie Peacock tweeted that Inverdale was ruining his olympic viewing and called him nauseateing.
It's not just Olympic viewing, it's any time he is on TV

Hugh is one of the best commentators in sport, but there were severe technical difficulties with the Road Races, and he and his co-commentators were getting practically zero information throughout.

Gymnastics: Christine Still and Mitch Fenner are very good at explaining a complex sport without dumbing down.
No use to me then.

I appreciate that but the frequent mis-identifying of riders, even allowing for national rather than team strip, got a bit much (one poor sod twice before Chris Boardman put him straight)
Still prefer him to Eurosports team though

I think the Eurosport team is really good, especially on the major tours when they have to provide five hours of commentary.
- The pre-start discussions with James Richardson are good
- David Harmon, Carlton Kirby and Sean Kelly manage to keep interest going throughout the dull gind of the first fifty miles of a flat stage
- The post-race interviews are good.
Commentating on velodrome races must be a doddle compared to that.

Apart from the Madison race, which is nuts.
