Agree with Tony Mac on this one, a strong appointment is important to generate interest for next season, a weak appointment could well kill off more fans.
I dont think we'll have the revenue to appoint a decent coach so i'm not holding my breath.

Hi Crab

Think that if CH spends money on the right coach he will generate interest and therefore revenue and be able to save money on players at the same time. A good coach getting the best out of decent players can work out better than a mediocre coach not getting the best out of great players - as I believe we have seen over the last few seasons. It is imperative that he gets a good, recognised coach with some pedigree if he is to re-light the supporters' interest. I'm one of those who will still go come what may but it's not about me and supporters like me, it's about getting the stay aways and stragglers to come along.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst, just don't stop believing.

I think everyone seems to agree how crucial, and everyone seems to agree a decent coach.
The problem is attracting them to ORLFC in the context of next season and low calibre teams, and one promo spot,

So who? Realistically..

Goulding is your man for motivating average players and getting them playing well.

Goulding, Crompton - you're having a laugh. The man with the proven record is Matt Calland. No brainer!

Depends what experience people have with them. All 3 bring something different.

I would suspect an 'in house' appointment - would the likes of Goulding, Crompton, Calland really want to coach in a development league playing University teams?

Until he realises that crowds of 300 next season aren't going to fund a decent salary or a decent squad.......I'd like to be proven wrong but I think Roden will get it permanently

If Goulding is serious about wanting to coach Oldham, he must have forgiven us for throwing beer over him at Sedgley Park a few years ago when he was in charge of the Hairnets.

Warren Jowitt has left the Rams, now he would be a good appointment.

It might not be a bad idea to employ a player coach, an experienced older player who could give some guidence to the players during the match.

One who only wants to play for a couple of seasons who wants to get on the coaching ladder.

No chance of Fordy even if we could afford him. He definatley doesn't see eye to eye with CH.

How many more people would turn up if Fordy was to come back? More than enough to cover his wage? Some of the more constructive partnerships come from people who don't see eye to eye.
