How many more people would turn up if Fordy was to come back? More than enough to cover his wage? Some of the more constructive partnerships come from people who don't see eye to eye.

Fordy will be on megabucks at Bath. Not a hope we can afford him
I'd wager a not insignificant sum he would be on more than CH....

I thought the Rugby we played under him the last time, although successful was verging on boring. So I do not think it would put bums on seats for long.

For me the only logic in what has been done with Benson leaving early (NOT early enough,by a couple of seasons, for sure!) is to bring someone in who can look round and get things in place for next season. However,I don`t know the man,but it seems that CH likes his clique ,his `mates` around him. It`s obvious that he doesn`t listen to his customers. So,while I`d love to be optimistic in attracting the likes of a Calland or a Crompton (or even Dave Woods, now commentating on Premier Sports),I`d agree with sheddings69 in that the in-house ,ie clique, candidate will be appointed in Roden. If i`m right, then not much will change with Roden as evidenced by his coaching role and input this season ;if I`m wrong then it`s a great chance to lay down a platform - I don`t denigrate the development league : we saw some good basic rugby this season from North and South Wales and I`m sure that the other teams will be motivated to do well. And I`m old enough to remember as one of the best seasons followng Oldham was when we were very poor and brought in Cliff Hill and the great Frank Foster (where are their equivalents now??) ,with Starkey as coach,to raise our performances. All in all,if it`s not an in-house candidate and we get someone decent from outside,it could be an entertaining league.Up to you Mr CH - show us your way !!!!

Tony Benson left training to Roden and so my concern is we'll get more of the same. I can't see anything changing next season if Roden remains in charge. Why would players who have a choice want to come to oldham with an unproven coach, poor facilities and limited tactical nouse. We need a broom to clean out the old guard and start a-fresh with a competent experienced coach who will lift not just the team but the fans as well. At barrow our fan base was very flat - which I can understand but it's the lowest i've seen us in years. And that's saying something.

Broom and sweep clean ....couldnt agree more .............from the very top ......... We could have a millionaire befefactor tommorrow ...and sign THE BOLT .......but the current Chairman would hound him out within weeks of signing as Mr. Bolt would get more publicity ( all be it in a small pond ) than he would ........... :D

Calland easy, comes with a proven track record, local lad, won't want stupid wages, enough said although don't think ch would have it because Calland will not stand for any of his ######

Dont know if anyone caught BBC Manc rugby league extra, Hamilton phoned in during the show and confirmed he was upfront with Roden that he will not get an opportunity to take the job full time.

its on iplayer for another 5 days or so about an hour and 20 mins into the show

That's good news.Clearly we are rock bottom at the moment but ORLFC needs a steady experienced respected hand to steady the ship and start afresh. This season is over now and whilst some extra money in from play off games would be welcome the sooner we have the new permenant coach in the better.

One man who would make a difference, if you could entice him to come would be John Pendlebury.

Great coach with a lot of experience who understands the game at all levels, would know how to implement a solid youth/reserve structure based around identifying, developing and bringing through young talent, which would be a huge benefit to a club like Oldham as it will provide a base from which to build for the future and possibly depending on its success allow some financial gains in the medium to long term if players are contracted in the correct manner.

Certainly a well respected coach within RL in general and if I was CH that is the type of person I would be looking to bring in.

Good luck for the future.
