Has anyone else noticed the article in the League weekly by Ryan Sparks. He is from Dewsbury and comments like "Bulldogs flog naming rights" not gaining valuable sponsership in hard times . Also " Un Pleasant" ie. The Batley ground maybe he should speak to visiting supporters who always speak highly of their visit to our stadium. I have noticed his negativity to the bulldogs in his match reports in the league weekly and the press. I suspect he is a Dewsbury fan and is showing his dislike for the bulldogs in his articles.

First Tom Coates and the League Express and now Ryan Sparks at League Weekly. That 2 Dewsbury fans then who can string a sentence together and both end up writing for Rugby League press. What are the odds.

Ignore the jibes Graham, when people start mocking with childish remarks its usually a sign of jealousy and also insecurity which might be from the fact that the written press is dying and websites and social media are the future.

TBF, Malcolm Haigh is just as bad. I'll await the backlash from elsewhere, but I reckon the overall standard of reporting is poor in the RL press. If you want a decent and (relatively) impartial Batley report, you know where to go! ;)

The guy is an idiot and his reports have never given Batley any credit.

Hes on a par with notorious letter writer Kevin Maguire in my book.
What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law

I'm not really up for getting into some kind of forum debate but I'm more than happy to point out a few facts.

I'm from Bradford, I have never once written "Bulldogs flog naming rights" - I don't write the headlines or the captions - and I favour neither Batley or Dewsbury. I report on them both, equally, every week.

And you talk of negativity in my match reports, right. My last started with: A NEAR-FAULTLESS display, crafted by the sheer excellence of half-backs Ben Black and Gareth Moore, provided the perfect platform for a Dewsbury-born amateur to introduce himself as a star of the future as Batley swept aside Co-operative Championship strugglers Swinton with an 11-try demolition.

Hardly negative to be fair.

I have the best part of an entire website dedicated to criticsing me and telling me I'm not up to the job, Ryan, you've a long way to go before you scale those heights!

Its the sentence "near faultless display" that gets us everytime. Mount Pleasant is closer to perfection and heaven than most and perfection is what we strive for!!!

To be honest, I've enjoyed reading Ryan Sparks' columns in the programme this season, and commented on more than one occasion that it was refreshing to see a journo that wasn't backwards about stating his opinions - unlike many of his contemporaries. Certainly not noticed any anti-Batley sentiment.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

Got to agree with Harold , I prefer The Press sports reports , compared to the Batley news ( who are now putting DEWS Rams reports in the BN ! , wont be long before the dews reporter n batley news merge in my opinion ) and Ryans column in our programme is also a good read

I'm suprised that Ostrich site is still up. Thought whoever it is would have been bored of updating it. Do we know who is behind it? Where's the bit about Tom?

PS promise i wont hold it against you if you are a closet Ram :D :D :D Enjoy the game on Sunday.

I've been sent a couple of names so I already have an idea who's behind it, but to be honest I've better things to do with my time than work out who it is. I'll be at the game on Sunday though if he fancies introducing himself.

On the subject of 'time', I think the saddest thing about the Ostriches site is that a Batley supporter who clearly has web design skills, SEO knowledge and a lot of time on his hands would rather dedicate his efforts to spreading nasty rumours, slandering innocent people and cyber bullying than making a positive contribution to the club he supports.

Well you got the bit about having web design skills wrong, its a pile of tosh and relies heavily on remote content and isn't cross browser friendly at all, and as for search engine optimisation, just how many dewsbury rams websites are there out there to enable it to top the google rankings, erm, 2.

Youre spot on about the rest though Tom

Met Ryan a couple of months ago while he was doing the match report over at Stanningley and spent so much time nattering and putting the world and the game to rights i got no photos. LOL.
