if the likes of UKIP had their way, how would team GB be affected?
Would for instance Mo Farah have been allowed into the country in the first place?

Mo Farah is a Somalian with a British passport ... fair enough, he's lived here since he was 8.
However, these days, he takes UK funding, lives in the USA and wants his imminent twin babies to be born there so they can claim dual nationality.
Given a chance to run for the USA, I reckon he'd take it.
The only difference between him and Tiffany Porter is that he's capable of winning medals.

I'm not sure I want UK immigration policy dictated by how it'll affect our Olympic chances.

me neither
however team GB reflects the multiethnic and multicultural nature of the UK, something which is at odds with many people's thinkinking.

In some ways it does, but there's a bit of Lennox Lewis/Greg Rudsedski about a few of our entrants who I don't believe should be representing us.

the point is that many people who are giving the UK so much to feel proud about, who are representing the UK with dignity and so much credit, wouldn't have even been allowed to live here according to the policies of some political parties.

You can't use individual cases to base your policy on though. If those same party's policies had been implemented this fella wouldn't have been in the country in the first place. Swings and roundabouts

Or:
The success in the 2012 Olympics can be put down entirely to the actions of the John Major government.

How could we have stopped him? He'd outrun the UK Border Force any day. Anyway, ###### to UKIP. At best, just a ginger group, at worst, articulate but deluded Little Englanders

And you're a UKipper?
I feel I'm left with no one else to vote for.
- I'm instinctively Labour but can't do with the Miliband regime, nor with Blair's before that. The one thing you can guarantee is that no Miliband cabinet member has ever wielded anything heavier than a pen, let alone done any actual labouring. A few weeks ago, Miliband cheerfully admitted lying about previous levels of immigration ... it can be summarised as "we did let in 3 million more than we said and, oh yes it was a mistake. Never mind, I'm sure you'll forgive us. Perhaps we can just move on"
- I come from a mining village, except that it's got no mine, and live in what was brtitain's biggest mill town, except that it's got no mills ... all thanks to Thatcherism. I would never trust a Tory government with my vote. I wouldn't trust Osborne with a sharp pair of scissors, let alone the economy.
- The LibDems are just Miliband and Harmon types wearing a different coloured tie. Clegg strikes me with all the charm and integrity of Jimmy Savile and has already proved impossible to trust with a box of matches.
- Immigration, social service claimants and EEC membership are major issues for me, and only UKIP is prepared to address them.
With regard to other UKIP policies, to be honest I'm not sure what they are.

A bit harsh, that. Jimmy Savile had quite a lot of charisma, even if he was a weirdo. Clegg is just a Tory. The Lib Dems would be better served by having an actual liberal at the head of the party, rather than someone who is just a soft Tory.
Quite pleased he said he'll tell his MPs to vote against the Tories proposed boundary changes, mind. Will make it very hard for the Tories to win a big majority (or outright majority full stop) at the next election.

Maybe, maybe not - but one less medal is hardly a big deal, is it?
