Next Thursday (August 16th) Wigan Library are holding an 80s themed event as part of the mayor's chosen charity, which this year is the Wigan and Leigh Pensioners Link. Rugby League will be well featured as I have been asked to give a talk about my four novels (One Winter, One Spring, One Summer and One Autumn) which all have a strong Rugby League background.
Tickets cost just £1 and include refreshments and the event runs between 2.30 and 4 p.m.

I'll be talking about how being a Rugby League fan since 1947 was one of two things that first inspired me to write, the other being the old saying about work "They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller". I'll also be referring to Lancashire humour and the value of having knowledge of your family tree.

If time allows I might also mention a bit about my fifth novel which is over half finished and includes such titles as A Tale From Knowsley Road, Billinge Rules, A Day Out In Wigan, Listening to Stevo, The Welsh Girl From Wrexham and The Jehovah's Widnes.

All the very best with it. I hope it goes well.

A Jehovah's Widnes is a top class title by the way :D

Billinge Rules

Shameless flattery of Ray, there. ;)
"Journalists are meant to be neutral, for God's sake." - Stephen 'Wiggy' Jones

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

With Ray living in Upholland Road, I have chosen a much better title to flatter him with.
It's for chapter number 14:
Hugo Van Dijk uit Looperskappelo.
