Another well refed game
, 2 off for both sides and 1 sin binned off each !!. Players just ended up loosing their cool, didnt see anything wrong in the Ulverston sending offs both at the same time ,and the 1st Millom sending off was for an awsome tackle not illigal just hard across the chest the second carnt argue with back chatting. Could have been a very good game.
But on a plus side saw the funiest thing ever on a rugby pitch Gary High heard they were taking bets on what failed first his heart or his shirt.

Did everyone hear the controversy with the Barrow Island / Walney game... looks like the refs round he have a distinct lack of ability to follow simple rules!

Got told at work today that there was 39 penalties awarded in the game, surely this can't be true? If this is right they are two of the most ill disciplined teams ever (even the queens teams of old wont have give that many pens away) or was there another reason

Yes the penalty count was Millom 9 - 30 Ulverston...
Regarding the Barrow Island game, an email got sent out to all clubs and the local referees on the morning of the game clearly stating what would happen in the event of a draw at full time. It basically said; There will be 10 minutes of extra time each way, however it will be golden point so if a team scores in extra time then the game is over...
so when B.I scored a drop goal in extra time they should have won, however Langy decided to play the full 20 minutes... Walney scored two tries and "won"!
So two controversial wins in the first round of the B.T cup! Good work ref's!!

that is not quite true.
after full time the referee was approached and asked what the script was he told both sides that we would play 10 mins each way NOT golden point.
several people told the referee that this was not the correct rule but the referee stated that it was the correct rule and informed both team before we kicked off for extra time that we would NOT be playing golden point.
both teams were fully aware of what rule we were playing to irrelevant whether that was the correct rule.
obviously you would play tactically different depending on what rule you were playing to, there is no emphasis on scoring first if your NOT playing golden point.

Ah fair play... still tickles me that regardless of an email sent that day, with the sole purpose to explain what happens in the event of a draw, the referee decides to make up his own rules!

i see Barrow Island have been put through!! Its a complete mess, on one hand Barrow Island did do what was required to win but Walney played to the whistle so to speak, cant see this going down very well. I think it would have been better to replay the tie.

I feel very sorry for Walney. Ok the ref got the rules wrong in ET but lets be clear. BOTH teams knew how ET was going to pan out despite it being wrong because the ref told them how it was going to be played. For Island to then put an appeal in is a bit out of order if you ask me. Taking the 1 pointer was very smart IMO. Gave BI an ace should they have lost.

Why replay the Millom V Ulverston ? do you realy think Ulverston could have won if the game hadnt been abandoned they would have had to score twice and kick the goals in 5 mins, Millom didnt play their best but they always had enough to beat Ulverston.Agree, same with the Ulv game if you ask me!
Agree Walney should go through if both teams new what rules they were playing to, at a minimum it should have been replayed.
