RFL Tribunal verdict: John Stankevitch

An RFL Operational Rules Tribunal has banned John Stankevitch of Rochdale Hornets from all involvement in Rugby League matches or the business of Rugby League with member clubs.
Stankevitch was deemed to have committed blatant and deliberate misconduct in his wilful disregard for RFL Operational Rules in his failure to pay fines imposed by two earlier RFL Tribunals.
Stankevitch was fined £1,000, £500 of which was suspended, after being found guilty of misconduct for abusing a match official following a Northern Rail Cup tie between Rochdale Hornets and Keighley Cougars.
The Tribunal also ordered Stankevitch to forfeit a further £250 which had been suspended from a previous misconduct charge.
Stankevitch failed to pay the fines by the given deadline and did not exercise his right to appeal and have a full re-hearing.
In handing down their decision, the RFL Tribunal ruled that under Operational Rule D1.12 (B) (v), Stankevitch is banned from the following activity:
- Involvement in matches;
- Attendance at Rugby League grounds on matchday;
- Involvement in the business of any member club.
Involvement in this context includes both paid and voluntary involvement.
The penalty will remain in force until full payment of the fines due is made. Stankevitch has also been informed that he has the right to appeal this decision pursuant to Operational Rule D1.33.

According to him on twitter, he wasn't actually aware of this.

Shows how unprofessional the RFL are. They haven't even been in contact with me to tell me

Re: above post. First and foremost it's a reflection on him, so I think JS should be more worried about unprofessional it makes him look to be honest.

I was just going to make the same point, how professional is he, he doesn't pay the fine or appeal the punishment.

What a weapon he is.
Astute analysis from a Wigan fan:

Rumour going around Headingley that Wire will have to play the second half with 12 men.

It seems that they forgot to bring the half time oranges, and Solomona ate Chris Bridge instead.

Don't know why he was hungry, as he looked as though he had eaten the whole youth team before the game started.

Yeah I thought that tweet was rather hypocritical as well!

One less negative influence in the game.

but if you're a super league player you can break someone's jaw in several places and not get anything like this punishment
Success does not consists in never making blunders,but in never making the same one the second time.

I don't blame JS for not paying the fine, he's outspoken and a decent person.

Isn't it funny he doesn't pay a fine, but some clubs don't pay taxes!

I haven't seen his website, my opinion on JS is listening to the local radio station in the north west and he's all for local lads and supports the grass roots.

If he felt strongly enough to not pay the fine, why didn't he put in an appeal? It just doesn't make sense.

Just to be clear, which players have been fined for breaking someone's jaw in several places, not paid it, and been allowed to continue playing?

I have listened to his ranting for a while now and its hard to understand what he wants from the game other than for it to hand him on a plate a good living.

his teams failings have always been anything but his or his teams failings, his latest rant about we shouldn't try and be better than the best but just what we are good at (loosing I presume) was quite bizarre, The british cyclists gort where they are today by copying the best and then adding to it, they didn't do it by being rubbish and then being a bit less rubbish at our own rubbishness.

The cycling team didn't copy anyone, that's how they got to where they are
