A question for any TRL members based outside the UK. What was the coverage like where you are?
I've heard really bad things about the American and Australian efforts.

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore
"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

I saw coverage In the Czech Republic and Hungary whilst on holiday, sampling both local channels and Eurosport.
Lots of coverage, in the evenings its was the main events (swimming / athletics) just like home but on the local channels at the non peak times much more coverage of events that held the local interest, eg handball, water polo.
Don't speak enough of the lingo in either country to get a feel for their opinions but all presenters on location looked happy enough.

My daughter is in Australia and she said it's been pretty low key. They obviously focus on their main medal chances and seem to take more pleasure in us losing than them winning. Perhaps that's why they performed so badly.

Anyone based in France? Are their grapes as sour as reported about the "magic wheels"?
