Just had a response from the N,@ S sports editor MR ROSTRON. He is saying that he thought the haven game was the top game as beating a super team like GATESHEAD would clinch promotion.

It's laughable.... Town v Barrow was the match that basically decided who would finish top.Just had a response from the N,@ S sports editor MR ROSTRON. He is saying that he thought the haven game was the top game as beating a super team like GATESHEAD would clinch promotion.

I was on for about 20 minuets telling him just that the TOWN BARRA game was the top match in the league that day but he still insisted that the haven game was, as a win would give them promotion. Just like you say OTTO it is laughable

What a complete and utter annoying person. So if Chelsea played man united to see who would win the premiership and spurs won on the same day to get into the champions league which story fo you think would take priority. A survey of 5 year olds would even be able to answer that one!!

Instead of continually complaining about this bias rag, stop buying it!! I did, two/three seasons ago. You could put the money saved towards next years season ticket, simple
The only message these people will understand is a fall in readership/profit, and an public snub from Town fans across west cumbria may be just the vehicle that forces change?

I stopped buying it a few years ago, I have now even stopped going on their website. Its embarrassing and pathetically unprofessional to show such childish bias in a business environment.

If Rostron can't see that two already promoted Cumbrian teams fighting out a game that will probably decide which of the two finish top of the league in front of 1,710 people isn't more important than another Cumbrian team trying to gain 1 point from the bottom team who haven't won a game in 60 matches, in front of 630 people, in order to get the 4th promotion place in the same league, then what is he doing purporting to be a Sports Editor.
The man is incompetent or biased or an idiot or all three if that is what he truly believes, or is it just what he has been fed???

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

Your all bang on , you really do wonder what goes on in these offices. Even our pull out in the weekly star had us beaten at wembley by Wigton and Lupton posing as miller!
Proof reading and professionalism anyone? Years since I bought the star to . Great reading under the Walsh era coz I kept all the coverage in scrapbooks- wonder who was in charge then ... Website for me now to and our own site of course.

I too have stopped buying the N&STAR for the very reasons mentioned above, perhaps we should stop supporting the business that advertise in the rag and let them (the advertisers) know why, so bringing more pressure on the paper. But knowing how arrogant they are at the N&Star they would just laugh.

Tonights big news in the Fanzine is that the two players Haven have out on loan are returning to Haven after helping Gateshead to beat Town on Wednesday.
In the article though they seem to have de-valued the Ike memorial game by saying that Town have beaten Haven in THREE competitive games this season. What a load of ..........................!!!
