Anyone else think that Hamilton could do his usual trick of going for lowest price, rather than best value, in which case Paul Smith as player coach could come into the frame. Did some assisting at Swinton a few years ago if I remember rightly.

When I saw that Holroyd was linked with the post I thought Oh no, he did little for us when covering for Roden so why should he do anything as coach. And then I thought he's just the sort of person to go elsewhere and then come back to bite us. So is he worth a go? What does anyone else think?

Not a clue but i've got bad vibes about him after this season and he certainly doesn't give me any confidence that he would get us promoted.....would prefer someone else

Holroyd didn't inspire me either.Not sure he was a positive influence on the team morale wise. Seemed to moan rather than encourage. He's unproven and a risk I don't think we should take. He's no better an option than dogger.Depends how deep our pockets are I guess. You get what you pay for.I'd go for experience if we've can afford it.

Out of the people being rumoured I'd defo go with Don Gailer with dogger as no2

Although Martin Crompton and Dave Woods would be good appointments they haven't been mentioned in the rumours

You could throw Warren Jowitt (ex Dewsbury) into the rumours. I believe he applied when Benson was appointed in 2009 and then came back to haunt us by taking Dewsbury through the whole of that league season unbeaten. Not sure about Jowitt though, as Dewsbury speccies on their forum don't seem to have rated him over the past couple of seasons.

This is the single, most important decision for any club to make, as a coach's ability makes or breaks a team, as we've seen with our last appointment. But, call me pessimistic if you like, I'm not expecting to be inspired by the selection of our new coach, as, apart from Mike Ford, I can't recall a single inspirational coaching appointment during the Hamilton reign. I'm expecting him to go for cheap and cheerful again, regardless of ability.
