Rugby League has made a multimillion-dollar poaching raid on the AFL's No.2 man Gillon McLachlan.

The Australian Rugby League Commission is prepared to offer McLachlan more than $1 million a year to replace former NRL chief executive David Gallop.

Is this likely to come off?
Sounds like he'd be a bloke likely to promote and lift the game.
How does he operate? Is he likely to be another Gallop or what?

God knows.

But if the TV deal works out alright, he'll have plenty of money to throw around - something the AFL lot seem to be fond of doing.

They're saying he was the main man behind the recent AFL tv deal and more importantly, the reason the AFL has had hundreds of millions of government dollars spent on AFL stadiums/facilities recently, including two brand new stadiums for AFL teams no-one wants...

If the ARL get him as CEO I would expect big things from him.
