
On Wednesday 15th August Cramlington Rockets Open faced a strong Teesside Bulls team at a rain soaked Helford Road, Peterlee.
In a tense and enthralling encounter tries from Daniel Capross, Jordan Robinson, Harry Thorpe and Myles Hudson and three successful conversions from Tommy Williams saw off a spirited performance from The Bulls who led 8 - 4 at half time.
With early tries from Chris Hodgson and John Morgan and a late consolation try from Gareth Lodge of Teesside Bulls the game kept a large vocal crowd on tenterhooks till the final whistle; the game ending 22 – 14 in favour of Cramlington Rockets.
Cramlington Rockets Matthew Dawson was awarded Man of the Match by ex Gateshead Thunder player Robin Peers.
Cramlington Rockets Club Chairman Steve Beaty stated “I am so proud of the players not just the 17 that played tonight but everyone that played throughout the season to get us here. Teesside pushed us all the way and it was a great advertisement for Rugby League; we now start planning for next season for life in the North East Premier League and a new Regional side. Teesside Bulls Chairman Dave King stated “We have had a great season and loved every minute of it. We now have a squad of 35 players from a zero start and are looking forward to developing the club further next season.
