If this catches on we could use Workington as our u23's, or loan them some players on dual registration!

You've got to have some decent players to send out first before you can get them back. ha ha. Yours might be good enough for haven.
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

They already have a partnership with South Wales scorpions (Dave Clark)

I think i heard recently that some new rules next season for The Championship allow up to 6 duel reg players of any age and up to 4 players on season long loans. You would only be allowed to play 6 of them in a game.

What's everyones take on that one?
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it!

I think opinions of fans/clubs will differ depending on what kind of financial/development stage they are at.

Personally I don't like duel reg because it stinks of the Championships becoming feeder leagues to Super league, however it will help some clubs compete on a more level playing field?

Playing almost half of your run on side with duel reg players is too many in my opinion though and i'm sure not ideal for coaches,

1.Will they be available to train through the week leading up to games
2.Does the parent club pay their wage or is it split or taken on by the loan club
3.Risk of players being called back at the last minute
4.In Barrows case extra travelling expense

Plenty of pro's and con's to it I suppose?

Well we have had 6 dual reg players, And only dave petersen has been available for any length of time. But when he wasn't in the hull kr squad last week we still didn't get him for the Oldham game. So my take is that it's horse s***. It Only benefits our clubs when the super duper teams decide it does.

All this has been pretty much decided and CC clubs haven't been involved in any meetings. Its appalling.

It's to disruptive, inconsistent and downright baffling at times. These players and their clubs don't really care about us, we're just being used for their own purposes. Got to get your own players signed on as much as possible. With dualreg you dunno what your teams gonna be till those almighty teams deign to tell you. Noones doing ya any favours. The parent club is in charge and benefitting most - so they get a better player or one they can put in the shop window and sell.

Seems to have worked OK for us. Particularly Ryan Shaw.
