If you've read Keith Seniors autobiography it doesnt put Brian McClennan in a good light in regards his technical coaching abilities. I think the line Senior used was that Bluey said to the players "You get me to the final and I'll make sure you win it!". He came across as a great motivational manager but im not sure he has the skills to drag a club up to the top.

In saying that he did win two Grand Finals with Leeds so he is obviously talented, but from Seniors comments I'm not massively surprised this has happened.

As an aside, he always came across as a really nice guy, didnt seem to moan too much about ref's etc and always complimented the opposition. I enjoyed him being at my club.

I'd agree with the above, from almost every opinion I've read. Great motivator and man-manager, but needs to be matched up with more technically-minded assistants for real success. But that's not impossible to organise.
"Journalists are meant to be neutral, for God's sake." - Stephen 'Wiggy' Jones

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

On that basis, I think it shows Francis Cummins and Willie Poching did a great job whilst at Leeds.
