HAVING made “significant” progress on the proposed development of their Whitebank ground, Oldham Rugby League Club aim to submit a planning application to the October meeting of Oldham Council’s planning committee.
Plans include a new stand with seats on the same side as the existing main stand; terracing down the Whitebank Road side and at the southern end of the ground; plus new and additional turnstiles, toilets and a catering facility.

Well said Phil. Developments like these do take time to get the correct application together so that if people to put up objections, they have to be extremely good reasons for it to halt progress. It was always going to happen at some point, and I am sure that, while it still wont be Wembley, or Watersheddings, it will be 'home' and a darn sight better than travelling to grounds outside the borough to play our home games. Well done!

Great news and about time! People are extremely patient if communicated to. One question, does the 'new' seated area replace the existing one or supplement it? It's very clear on this press release.
Now we just have to finance it!!!

I guess the money is in place, due to putting the planning application in. And I am sure thats another reason why things have been up in the air. Why waste money on plans, applications, architects etc when where is nothing to fund the development? It wouldn't make sense. Knowing how much work CH does behind the scenes, of alot which goes un-noticed, he would of put his heart and soul into this, and that should be applauded.
I would say that the 'new' stand would replace the original one that is there. Only a guess, but I would think it would be going.

Does this mean the land ownership issues have been resolved?
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

For some reason I though we had go to a stage where a plan was agreed to solve the issues but no update on when it was resolved. Great news thta it is then.It was resolved last year, IIRC November ish.

It's very good news and will be very welcome. I would be pleasantly suprised if it replaces the existing one though instead of extending it. I'd expect it to be an addition, which wouldn't ne the end of the world.
