Don't see why she shouldn't receive the same treatment as the other woman.

She's been arrested anyway.

In this case, I think a spell in hospital would be more worthwhile than 21 weeks inside.
Why? Bigotry doesn't make you a hospital case. (well not in that sense anyway)

Do you think the same people will rush to her defence?
It doesn't matter. The precedent has been set. Ranting like this on a bus equals jail sentence.

The other woman was on a tram.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was given as a defence. The other woman was on a tram.

Also, it never works like "Oh she got 21 weeks so therefore she'll get 21 weeks."
It's why not all murderers get life without parole for example.

That's no excuse to go off the rails.

Not that I'm an expert...but it looks to me like she was having some kind of drug/ alcohol induced breakdown.

She looked like a passed racist to me.

you do get the impression, admittedly from a short piece of footage, that a psychiatric evaluation is required
but that isn't what this thread is about.
who think that life is but a joke

I know. That's why I didn't specify an amount of time, just a jail sentence. Maybe Diane Abbot will speak up for her? She don't like playing whiteys games.

Sure, that as well no doubt. But do you think - based on the video alone, which is all we have to look at - she should go to prison?

Personally no - and I experienced pretty much the same thing many years ago on a Bradford bus.. But I didn't think the other racist should have gone to jail either but the precedent has been set now.

I hope people understand what the thread is actually about. Its a very simple point. Racism is racism no matter who the perpetrator is and should be deemed unacceptable under any guise. It isn't a "black v white" thing, its an equality thing. Quite rightly "white on black" racism is deplored, but equally so should it be when the roles are reversed and it seems to me that it often isn't the case.

I agree re: the other case (this makes me sound like a liberal wet rag, but some kind of counselling for 6 months would have been much more useful than a jail term, in my view).
Not sure about the precendent though - all cases should be judged on their own merits and if and when it comes to court it's discovered that this women is mentally unwell then a different punishment may be handed down.

She's clearly not sober and people can look unstable when very drunk. Until I discover otherwise, she's a racist drunk.
I don't recall many people excusing Mel Gibson.
