Great news and common sense. Let's hope one day we get to use the banking in say a big cup game!

Spot on that....I know its not the ideal stadium for standing or seated fans to be segregated, but nothing that can't be sorted.....a bottom gate for standing on the banking could be used as turnstile

No, the grass banking will only be used when / if needed.

Least you have got it sorted but the way things are at the moment you like the rest of us won't be getting crowds like that so don't know why it was needed anyway

Good luck next season

Don't think the capacity was ever a problem-- more a propaganda issue.

Based on what was it not an issue and based on what is it propaganda? Would be interested to know, As far as the RFL rules state minimum criteria for the Championship in 2013 is 3000 capacity? And as far as I'm aware the South Leeds Stadium has ever had above that capacity until today?

Great news for the club, might not be needed at this moment in time but at least the council have ok'd it...! And who knows if the club gets a big cc cup draw next season?!

It would be great if the grass banking was used, but I would imagine it was arranged purely to tick a box with the RFL. The club would probably make a loss if they opened it because there would be no extra supporters but you would have the costs of the extra stewards, crowd barriers etc. I suppose it's good to have the option though.

Excellent news. At the new capacity I reckon there are probably fewer than half-a-dozen clubs we'd be struggling to host if we drew them in the cup.

Bit of a shame there are no plans to use it regularly though. I'd have thought charging, say a tenner to stand on the grass bank on a hot summer's day would have been a sure-fire winner - especially if we set up a "beer hut" similar to what they have behind the sticks at Featherstone.

Thats what i was thinking Hawkwindbag, as we know the stand is situated in the shade at kick off time and the grass bank on the far side would be an ideal picnic / family type area with the sun on it , Manly have a similar bank and so have North Q,land at the Dairy Farmers behind the posts. All we need now is some Aussie sunshine...

Id love nothing more to sit on the grass in the sun every week, but its just not financially viable, we have on average around 350-400 supporters attending home games in a stand that holds 2450, so there is no need to open another viewing are where the club would incur extra costs for stewards, temporary barriers, toilets etc.

Lets just hope we get the Rhinos at home in the Challenge cup.
