With a lot of permutations to go it should be a cracking weekend for championship 1 rugby. So tell your family and friends to get down to Craven Park. Lets hope Skolars and Rochdale can do the business. And of course ' The Raiders '

Isn't the Rochdale result academic now as long as we beat S.Wales?
C'mon Skolars!

We are relying on Skolars to do the biz, but we also need to focus on our Job against South Wales, we cannot be complacent.
We need loads of support down at Craven Park on Sunday, how about some incentives to get more there as we prepare for the playoffs.

Will our stadium announcer be keeping us updated on what is going on at the New River stadium,I for one would want to know if we had a chance of winning the league?

Well she shouldn't be. There may well be a twist before the champions are decided ( whether you like the system or not)

The champions will be known after the Grand Finals at the end of September. The League Leaders shield has gone ( and the bulk of the money) but history will show the Champions as whoever wins at the Halliwell Jones.

Surely the £50K should go to the GF winners and the £20K to Champions. Presumably it was the sponsors decision and so who can argue with that.

I would guess that the split of £50k and £20k was decided at the start of the year and at that stage the "League Leaders" wouldn't have been playing in the Play off Final. When the RFL changed the structure to what is now a Grand Final they just didn't change the prize money.

Sorry to disappoint everybody but Doncaster are already Champions.
The play off in Championship1 is just and end of season ko comp carrying a prize of £20k and a trophy for the winners.
It doesn't apply in the other divisions but this season in Champ1 the League Leaders are also automatically the champions.

as it should be in all divisions Keith .... the team finishing the season with the most points thro the regular season to me are the champions and the end of season playoffs should be a separate comp and not to decide who are crowned champs..ive never understood this grand final business other than to copy the Aussies ?

Congratulations to Doncaster who are deserved Championship 1 Champions.

Also congrats to everyone at the Raiders for a great season and congrats to Worky and Haven for promotion.

As a Fev fan I agree that the team who finishes top should be crowned champions.Even if we don't win the GF in my eyes we are, just as Donny are this season in Championship 1.

Welcome back to the championship and that goes to both your local rivals too.Having 3 teams from Cumbria and the local derbies it brings will keep everybody entertained and hopefully those nice people at Premier sports will show them on TV on a Thursday instead of dragging us or you lot to the other side of the pennines.

At the beginning of this season clubs were unsure how the system was going to work and asked the RFL for clarification as there was to be four clubs promoted to the Championship.

The RFL issued a statement that said for this year only the top four clubs would be automatically promoted, there would be no relegation from the Championship and the team in first place in Championship 1 would receive a winner takes all £50k prize.

On top of that there would be the annual play-offs with the top 6 clubs the winner of which would collect a £20k prize AND the title of Champions. All season the talk has been how silly if the 6th team won the play-offs and was called champions but didn't get promoted. That hasn't changed or at least there hasn't been any RFL statements to alter that.
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

The RFL statement about the 2012 Championship 1 season is here...

http://www.therfl.co...agree-promotion

It states quite clearly that the Champions will be the winners of the Grand Final. Yet the RFL have already publicly congratulated Doncaster on winning the title !
