What a season tbh all we wanted was promotion and that's what we got yes we had the title in our hands a couple of times but get down to Derwent Park on Sunday and support the boys! We generally do pretty well in th play offs when our backs are against the wall! As Dave Bowden always said in the dark days KEEP THE FAITH!!!!

Success is relative to the position you are in and I agree with Town88. If everyone had showed the same faith as him over the last few seasons, the crowds would be much bigger, and in turn, the team would be better.

We had one target this season, get promoted and we did that. Anything else was a bonus.

On the Haven forum it is being said there was a lot of betting on the Gateshead match and that some bookies were refusing to take any more bets and Paddy Power looking for an enquiry. One Town fan is said to have picked up a five figure amount!!!!! I stress this is only on the Haven forum and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else but they are saying betting was rife at Sellafield.
I remember when .............................
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

I would take it all with a pinch of salt Keith. According to that forum Dave Bowden asked if Town could be excused from the Northern Rail because we couldn't raise a team & we've been three weeks from administration about 6 times. It obviously makes the wishful thinkers feel better for a little while. They're still convinced they were league champions in 2005 & we're jealous of them. I was at the Skolars match last Friday, it would be interesting to see how the betting went for that match............On the Haven forum it is being said there was a lot of betting on the Gateshead match and that some bookies were refusing to take any more bets and Paddy Power looking for an enquiry.
