,,,,because there are "differences between him and some of the players". Think I`ve heard it all now, only two weeks after they reached their goal of finishing in the top four, the poor bloke gets shown the door! The game seems to be going as crackpot as football and I would`ve thought keeping the coach and getting rid of a few selfish players would be a better option for next season where Haven will surely be favourites to finish bottom.
Intresting. I sat with a senior Haven players Father at our recent game (who has history with Hornets, not tough to guess who it was) he mentioned the players didnt like or respect the coach for various reasons. He seemed to change the training requirements and times to suit his own lifestyle, even fining players who couldnt get time off work at short notice off a change in training days. Then had the audacity to call into the senior players to tell him he wouldnt be at training for over a week as he is going on a Med cruise with his missus!! Not really leading by example is it?
Haven also have a few Lancs based players who where promised only 2 trips a week up to Cumbria to train, as long as they did a session together locally once a week. This was agreed by the said coach and everyone was happy This was also stopped with no reason being given by the coach as to why.
Also the sigining of ex Brisbane Bronco Mullalhey from Widnes was a huge shock, he lasted less than a month at Haven after the promises never happened. He is now at Huddersfield.
A huge rumour went around that the ex Hornet player had been given a job coaching at Castleford???? This was way beyond anyones imagination even the players, who may i add was chuffed to bits. On calling Cas to sort his role out, they didnt know what he was talikng about. He is pretty sure where the rumours had come from, even taking phone calls from Haven team mates wishing him well in his new role.
Now i am not sure how true this is and if so the board at haven need to hold there heads in not checking the info out, however as quoted to me, he had on his CV a fantastic caoching background in Aussie, coaching in Queensland and coaching Alfie Langer & Darren Lockeyer amongst others, awesome i suspect the Haven board thought. I understand he coached them at junior level Under 13s or something. No wonder when they had given him the job and this story broke, the board decided to double check his stories and not many people had ever heard of him in Queensland.
Its a shame the board have come out with the players didnt get on with the coach story, as its not the true picture is suspect.
Hopefully my post are viewed as positive, and I cannot be held responsible for causing any offence to anyone associated with this message board

mullaey only lasted a month cause he injured his knee and had to have a op, we only had him on loan from widnes due to him not signing a new contract with them and he was always going to Hudds at the end of the season ,http://www.newsandst...ath=sport/haven
the cruise was planned for 10 days when we had nearly 4 weeks with out a game and players were also allowed to go away with families,it was only after it was booked the barrow game was moved for tv. .As for training twice a week,
they player who's father you were talking to has been struggling to attend once a week and that's all he wants to train up here and knew he would not be allowed to next season if Don was the coach, hence all the player unrest.

Two sides to every story, listen to the interview the coach was doing what he had been asked to do, some players didn't like it tough, but the BOD bottled it and instead of backing him backed the player. The conditions attached to his new contract were we had to re-sign lee doran and travelling players only had to train up here once a week, something that he knew would be a disaster and never work, but it looks like the travellers have got what they wanted
