As this is a Swinton "home" game surely it is upto swinton who they allow to broadcast. You had your home game earlier in the season and i fail to see why swinton should allow the opportunity of giving extra exposure to your sponsors.
I sympathise for the spectators but there is a fair chance that GMR will be at the game and if so they will no doubt do a feature as it is a local derby.
Remember Swinton pay a rent for the ground to the same landlord as you do therefore they are more than entitled to call the tune at this game.
Lets hope it is a good match and if there are any fans who are sat at home waiting to listen on the radio get down to LSV, as far as we are concerned it's going to be a good four months without a sunday fix.
Hi Marshy.
I fully accept that this is Swinton's home game, and that it is theirs to organise. Our sponsors wouldn't be getting a mention at this game, for that reason - it is Swinton's home game and it is Swinton's sponsors who would be getting the mentions on the P/A, and be picked up by our radio microphones. As yet, we don't give radio plugs for our sponsors, so none of ours would be mentioned.
Also, it would have been an opportunity for Swinton's name/brand (and ours, obviously) to be broadcast further afield. I mentioned the Leigh supporetrs 'around the World', and that's no exaggeration - we have regular listeners in USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Obviously these folks can't get to our games - perhaps Swinton have fans in that position, or lapsed fans who may pick up on the broadcast and have their interest fired again?
Radio Manchester may be at the game, although I suspect their coverage could be limited, given that the dreaded football season has started again. We have received some excellent comments on this initiative, from Yorkshire club supporters - both involved and neutral - for our broadcasts, who have expressed gratitude at being able to listen in to a FULL LIVE commentary.
Personally, I feel that Swinton have 'missed a trick' here, to gain some FREE publicity, and have come across as narrow-minded to Leigh supporters.
