In all fairness Bowes your wasting your time the bottom line is Marauder knows best and you wont ever convince him otherwise, even when he cant counter an argument with anything constructive

Looking at the NWC its obvious teams wont play all of the games that are available to them they will play the ones that they can compete in and wont bother going to places like Golborne and Dalton but as long as they enjoy there rugby good luck to them

Marauder knows the Hull league will be gaining teams soon as well.

West Hull have entered a team but it's in the lower division so must be a 3rd team.

Scarborough have entered a team I notice. I hope they do well there, good to see them join a full season league.

Unsurprising though still think running reserves in a different season to the first team is doomed to fail. Then again couldn't blame Holderness if they switched back as while summer's a better time to play they'll get more games with less travel in winter.

And thats the point, game time.

The Hull league could become a major force again like it was when I played in it.

It may be that reserve teams in Yorkshire have to return to winter leagues but they'll still need to find a way to give them games in the summer otherwise they can't fulfil their function as a reserve team.

Will still have numbers to call on, and the off season seems to go very quickly so players can tick over with the odd game and also the re-birth of the Inter-Town competition during the summer.

I'm sure the rules unless they have been altered state you had to play for your Town side before you could be selected for your county and then play county before you could be selected for BARLA.

but what if the district leagues choose to play their inter-town games in winter...which, is there choice. again, this is what the district leagues are choosing.

Just wondering here but say Castleford Panthers can farm fringe first team players out to their Pennine league team in spring and autumn but is there anything in the rules to stop them farming players out to (say) Cutsyke in the summer? I know clubs running an A team in Yorkshire Men's couldn't but not sure about if you don't?

I think there's only 2 from 7 NWCL games going ahead this weekend Golborne Parkside Vs Rylands Sharks and Widnes Tigers Vs Leigh East B.

Did these 4 teams pull out of the summer game early?

I'm sure the NWC is actually going full flow at a later date to allow teams with summer comitments to finish their season.

Anyway, I'm putting my shorts on again (2nd time this season) and going to Bradford to watch the lads, I must confess for the 2nd week running we are nowhere near full strength due to holidays and work commitments.

Summer has months to go yet. Also none of the sides bar perhaps Blackbrook if it's an A team not B are playing summer anyway

West Bank Bears and Rochdale Mayfield have pulled out but apparently Thatto Heath and Eccles have entered teams now. Don't hold out much hope.

West Bank Bears and Rochdale Mayfield have pulled out but apparently Thatto Heath and Eccles have entered teams now. Don't hold out much hope.

Just to make it clear that the entry of a team from Thatto Heath Crusaders is not in anyway a look at moving back towards a winter season. The club is 100% committed to Summer RL. The team that is being entered is almost completely independent of the current open age set up at the club, from a playing/coaching point of view. The new team has been formed by a group of lads/mates that played a charity game at the club between two former school teams a few weeks ago. The team is comprised of approximately 20 lads, 75% of whom are currently not playing RL for another club and around 5 or 6 lads that are currently playing summer RL for clubs in the St.Helens area. The club will look to support this team in anyway possible as well as looking to integrate them into the open age set up if possible.

Without having met the organisers of this team personally, I don't know exactly what their intentions are as to the future of this team but as an open age section we are aware that we are currently limited in respect of the fact that we don't offer anywhere at the moment for the "social player" to take part in the games as a means of enjoyment. The two open age teams we are running at the moment are both playing at a good standard in the NCL Prem and NWML Div 1, which is restrictive for those players want to play for fun or those that have come through the club junior and youth system that aren't able to play at a such a level. This team could go someway to filling that void, be it in winter or summer. That said from what I have heard they may be a little better than that standard too!

Hope it works. IMO clubs running off season teams goes horribly wrong but sounds like this may be an exception.

But it's not off season for the players who play in the winter and it will keep the tills turning over at the clubhouse.

It isn't off season for Widnes Tigers but it is for Blackbrook
