We were only 1 point in front of them SB so with their win they go above us.

Just ran out of steam today unfortunately, although full credit to Halifax who dominated the last 30 mins and turned territory and possession into points.

We were fantastic first half but only finished the half 8 points up when with the chances we had it could have been double that.

We aren't far off being a very good top 2 side I don't think. Just something missing at the moment although it's hard to put your finger on what.

Hard to criticise the team today as they did so many good things, but really disappointed with the result.

The table on BBC, on our website and on your website shows Batley 4th on 39 points and Sheffield 5th on 38 points. ?

It's not now. Sheffield above us. Looks like they've just updated it.

Ah right. Never mind. You'll have to go to Don Valley / Brammal Lane and do the business. If we can beat Keighley it would be nice to see you back at the Shay, Sheffield don't bring many fans.

Greatt game, great atmosphere played by two decent teams. Handforth the difference I thought. Thought he led halifax magnificently. We just lacked the crucial decision making skills at the important times, and ran out of steam. Walmesley was outstanding yet again.

KH on Radio Leeds was spot on with his analysis, could have gone either way.

Let's see what we can do against Sheffield!

Personally I disagree. We looked good for 50 minutes but ran out of steam and had a rash of poor decision making at the end.

Good for 50 minutes out of 80 means we WERE the best side over 80 mins

Yet again I disagree, but it's irrelevant. Either way the game was there fr the taking.

The difference was the fact Fax turned their territory and possession into points in the second hand. As well as we played first half we only led by 8 points at the break where our dominance should have resulted in at least a 14 or so point lead.

Fax also restricted our possession in the last 30 and totally dominated field position, which they must be given great credit for. In many ways they 'old manned' us.

I agree with both of you to an extent. Tiger coming on meant penky could to to hooker and exploit the ruck area, where everyone knows he's most dangerous!!

The turning point for me today was after Danny maun missed that drop out and the whole momentum of the game changed after that!!

Top effort by all the players today, hope no one from saints was there to watch Walmsley!! If we can play like that next week we will stand a good chance of winning I think.

Interesting the way we all see matches. Penky was, in my opinion, mostly ineffective at stand-off, and they seemed to lack structure until Handforth came on. But fair enough, opinions are opinions. Again, either way, we could have won it if we had made calmer decisions throughout the match, and we struggled for possession in decent position in the second half. Up to the last 30 minutes, Black was outstanding, but then lacked decent possession after that.

Have to agree with Bulldog 17, the Danny Maun drop out incident changed the game. Gutted is an understatement.

Just gutted. So many "what if's" but it's not the end of the world. We owe Sheffield one and next Sunday will be the time to do it.

Walmsley's try yesterday was probably one of the best tries I will ever see from a forward. Although I don't see him staying at the mount next season. He is destined for better things and I wish him all the best.

Overall. Credit to Halifax. They dug deep and peaked at the right time in the match to take the 3 points from us. Hopefully see you in 3 weeks.

Agree as well. Instead of us being in possession and attacking in their 30 yard area, they came downfield and scored. If we had scored it would have been too much for them to come back from, IMO. Instead they scored and believed that they could go on and win. Changed the whole momentum of the game.

Ran out of steam yesterday, we just don't have the same attacking impact when Hirst and Walmsley are off the field - they're both excellent. Overall both teams were well-matched, but credit to Halifax, as others have said they dominated the last 20 minutes. I disagree over the game-breaker being the Maun drop-out incident - the crucial point in the game was Bretherton's silly off-load near the touchline when we'd just seen of the latest bout of Halifax pressure and were lookng to get back upfield. Silly, silly, silly brainfart. We were never going to hold out another set after all that defensive effort on our own line. Was great to witness Walmsley's second try - there's no other prop like him in the game at the moment at either our level OR SL level. In the nicest sense of the word, he's a freak.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?
